It is a time to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy and to express our gratitude to those who have given their lives in service to our nation.  We need to show this love and dedication to veterans every day of the year, and that's why Democrats are fighting for initiatives to accomplish that.  Democrats are dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of veterans and servicemembers, including a commitment to building a 21st-century Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) that delivers world-class care to those who have served.  Initiatives have been created to focus on the empowerment of veterans and the utilization of their unique skill sets to strengthen our economy and communities. Democrats recognize the importance of providing veterans with access to education, employment, and financial opportunities that enable civic engagement.  In addition to supporting veterans, Democrats stand with military families who serve alongside their loved ones in uniform, recognizing the sacrifices made by military spouses and children. That is why, as a nation, we must be committed to supporting these individuals as they pursue their education and careers.  Let us celebrate Memorial Day with pride, respect, and a deep sense of gratitude. May we always remember the cost of our freedom and strive to honor the legacy of those who have served with unwavering commitment.
