Here is the truth about our country’s southern border: during Trump’s presidency we saw a massive increase in successful illegal entries from Mexico into the United States.  MAGA policies pushed more people to cross the border illegally than ever before, and Republicans in Congress have been able to keep these policies active throughout the Biden administration.  Policies such as dismantling the asylum application process and deporting asylum seekers to Mexico have actually led to more people attempting to cross the border illegally.  By obstructing the asylum application process at legal crossing points, the administration inadvertently pushed individuals towards attempting illegal entry. The elimination of asylum opportunities resulted in a greater percentage of people seeking alternative routes, contributing to the observed increase in successful entries.  Moreover, the controversial practice of returning asylum seekers to Mexico to await hearings in precarious conditions has led to a surge in crimes against immigrants. The pandemic exacerbated the challenges, with hearings suspended and swift expulsions implemented.  Democrats have recently tried to reach across the aisle and get REAL progress done to address this problem, but Donald Trump told them not to work with Democrats. This just shows how MAGA is handling the issue... it is more about political gains than actually fixing the issue.  Thanks to the MAGA wing in Congress, these policies are still in action and are putting a massive strain on our border. Democrats can solve this, but they are going to need help from the public to push back on these destructive policies.
