Move over Google organic search...there's a "new" traffic source in town. So, last Sunday and Monday, I got 91,814 visitors from Google Discover...to just 1 article on my site! (Even though Google Discover has been around since 2018, it's still relatively "new" compared to organic search). Over a period of about 9 days, this 1 article has received 144,281 clicks from Google Discover! Check out this graph from Google Search Console showing Google Discover Traffic: With 2.08 million impressions and a 7% click through rate, I'm starting to fall in love with Google Discover. In fact, this avalanche of traffic gave me a record traffic day on my blog that I started in 2011 (NichePursuits.com), with 75,000 visitors overall in just 1 day. But did this traffic make me any money? Yep. In display ads alone, I topped $3,000 in earnings...in a single day! Crazy! Check out this earnings screenshot over the period of the Google Discover spike in traffic: And this doesn't show the full impact of all the traffic. My daily email subscribers went way up and now many more people are familiar with my brand. So, what is Google Discover? Think of it as an interesting articles recommendation engine for people on mobile. When people on Android phones go to their Google search bar / app, they are given the Google search bar, but also a bunch of recommended articles that they can just scroll through. These articles pop up automatically, kinda like videos show up automatically on the homepage of YouTube. Think of these articles as recommended articles based on your interest, just like your YouTube homepage is filled with videos recommended for you based on your viewing history. Google knows what you are interested in and is automatically showing millions of people content based on those interests. You can't "submit" your articles for consideration on Google Discover, you simply have to try and meet the [Google Discover guidelines](). Want to see the article of mine that took off on Google Discover and got over 91,000 visitors in 2 days? Well, I'm in a giving mood today, so you are in luck! [Here's the article that took off on Discover right here.](=) Check it out and see if you can learn anything from it. I'm still learning and this is the first time I've had an article take off at this magnitude. (I've had many other articles get Google Discover traffic, just never this much). But you better believe I'm going to try and replicate it more often! Oh, as a bonus, this article is now ranking #4 for the term, "businesses that run themselves" and is getting some decent organic search traffic as well, even though Discover traffic has died off. Want to Learn More About Google Discover Traffic? Well, again, you are in luck! [In today's episode of "This Week in Niche Pursuits News"]( we brought in Tony Hill as a guest...and Tony gets way MORE traffic than I from Google Discover! So, Jared and Tony cover the industry news, but they also spend the middle of the podcast chatting about Google Discover strategies and how to tap into this "new" traffic source. [Listen to the Full Episode with Tony Hill and Jared Discussing Google Discover Traffic Right Here]( (I was unable to make it on today's episode because I'm at FinCon this week in New Orleans where I'm speaking on stage tomorrow!). I hope you enjoy today's episode! I have a feeling this is not the last time I will be mentioning Google Discover traffic strategies. Is this the type of email content that you like to get?
