Wow, it's really been 11 years! On March 11th, 2011 was the last day I worked in the corporate world

Wow, it's really been 11 years! On March 11th, 2011 was the last day I worked in the corporate world. Today is the 11 year anniversary of being self employed. A few years before quitting my job, I had started building little niche websites and through A LOT of failures and struggles, I finally figured out a formula that worked. By early 2011, my niche sites were making more than my day job as a business banker at Wells Fargo, so I quit my job! I quit my job to build niche sites. As crazy as it sounds, that's exactly what I did. Last year (on my 10 year anniversary), I created an entire YouTube video explaining my journey. If you want to hear the full story of how I quit my job, [you should check out this YouTube video right here.](=) (I share some of my early websites, failed projects, and my successes). What my family looked like 11 years ago (3 kids) What my family looks like today (4 kids) After 11 years, being an entrepreneur is now just part of my identity and "normal". I work from home (way before it was cool 😊), I have the freedom to work on whatever project I feel like, and it's been extremely finanically rewarding. I won't go into the income numbers too much, but I'll simply say that over the past 11 years, I've made signifcantly more money than I ever would have in the corporate world. More freedom, more flexibility, more fun, less stress, and more financially rewarding. Why do I share all of this? Well, 11 years ago, when I was about to quit my job, it just so happened that I met up with my cousin. He just could NOT believe that I was quitting my job to "make money online". He just kept repeating, "and you are REALLY making money?" It changed his entire perspective on what was possible on the internet when he heard what I was doing. That conversation with my cousin led him down a path to building an online business...and he then quit his job as a nurse to go full-time with his online business. Today he is CRUSHING it and his online business is even bigger than mine. (His business is [Nursing.com](), for the curious). He often cites our initial conversation with opening his eyes to what was possible with an online business. I take zero credit for his success, but I'm glad I was able to share my story at a critical time that gave him "hope". So, today as I simply reflect on everything great that has happened since I quit my job 11 years ago, I want you to know that making a living through websites and online business is absolutely possible. It's real. Many many people like me are making a good living through the websites they have created. So, I just want to leave you with a little "hope" that building an online business can lead to great things. If you are stuck in a corporate job or another position that you are not happy with, there are alternatives. Don't go out and quit your job right away, but just know that building a profitable website is a viable way forward.
