Chuck Feeney was a successful entrepreneur and amassed a wealth of $8 billion. But recently it all went to $0. And he did it on purpose. Today, I want to share the story of Chuck Feeney and why he decided to go broke on purpose and how it's influenced the wealthiest people in the world. I also have a few other updates below that I think you'll find interesting (including a new video I just recorded). --------------------------------------------------------------- Before I dive into Chuck's story, I wanted to offer you a quick reminder that AmaLinks Pro is currently 50% off for Niche Pursuits readers only. If you are still in the process of trying to build your wealth (unlike Chuck), then a software tool like AmaLinks Pro can help you monetize your site faster and easier. Just [use coupon code NP50 to get AmaLinks Pro right here](). --------------------------------------------------------------- Chuck Feeney was the co-founder of Duty Free Shoppers, which was an airport retailer selling all sorts of goods to travelers. He started the business in 1960 and it did extremely well over the decades as air travel grew. Never a lavish spender, Chuck saved his money and lived a "monklike" frugal life. After amassing about $8 billion in wealth, he decided he wanted to give it all away before he died. And just earlier this month, he accomplished that goal! He lives in a small apartment and he couldn't be happier to know that his money has gone to so many great causes while he was still alive. The best part? He almost always gave anonymously. He didn't need or want the spotlight. He just wanted to make sure his money was going to causes that he cared about. (Education causes were the biggest recipient of his donations). Now, you may have heard of the "Giving Pledge" that Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, and other billionaires have signed to "pledge" to give away all their money. Where do you think they got that idea? Chuck Feeney. “Chuck was a cornerstone in terms of inspiration for the Giving Pledge,” says Warren Buffett. “Chuck’s been the model for us all. If you have the right heroes in life, you’re 90% of the way home. Chuck Feeney is a good hero to have.”  Here's what Bill Gates had to say about Chuck: “Chuck created a path for other philanthropists to follow. I remember meeting him before starting the Giving Pledge. He told me we should encourage people not to give just 50%, but as much as possible during their lifetime. No one is a better example of that than Chuck. Many people talk to me about how he inspired them. It is truly amazing.” You can [read more about Chuck Feeney right here](=). --------------------------------------------------------------- = Recently, I mentioned Substack and how it's become "hot" right now. Well, I decided to create a video where I dive into the trend of SubStack and whether it's the new blogging. I discuss the pros, cons, and some alternative options for creating a premium email newsletter. I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments on the [Substack Youtube video right here](=). --------------------------------------------------------------- In SEO news, did you know that Google ignores your meta descriptions 70% of the time? So, if you or your authors are writing custom meta descriptions that you want to show in the search snippets, well, most of the time it's not showing what you've written. This is according to a recent study that you can [read about right here](=). It would be good to be aware of what's going on with your meta descriptions to help you decide what you and your authors should be writing. Overall, I hope you find some of these updates useful in growing your business. Thanks again, Spencer [Unsubscribe]( | [Update your profile]( | 8524 W Gage Blvd # 1, Kennewick, WA 99336
