The reason is simple: a new version of Android arrives on smartphones this month. ​ My first smartphone was an HTC Desire, which was released with and retired on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. That was way back in 2011... and I even [wrote about it in 2016](! ​ Yes, I remember when the topic of Android updates was almost a taboo for manufacturers. When a journalist asked about the expected update of a certain smartphone, rest assured said journalist would almost always get crossed off the list of invited attendees for future events. ​ I admit that Samsung was one of the worst companies at rolling out software updates, despite them being the company that sold the most smartphones at the time. However, in 2022, the game is totally different and Samsung understood one thing: to retain its customers, it needed far more than offering a quality product, but to focus on after-sales.
