View in browser "We are stuck with technology when what we really want is just stuff that works." – Douglas Adams Ask fifteen different developer advocates what it is that they do and you'll receive [fifteen different answers](). But for me–and other people may disagree–our most important role is to take all the incredibly impressive, but highly complex technology that powers Nexmo and ensure it is behind an API which is easy to understand, and maybe even a little joyful to use. There is no more critical task we can accomplish. Even though it feels like some of us are still blowing away the cobwebs from Christmas and New Years (I know it's almost February, but I lived in Glasgow, our Hogmanay celebrations last longer than most) the developer relations team has already made considerable strides in 2019 towards completing that task. We've had several wonderful new people join the team. These new advocates will help us spend more time in each language community, speaking to developers and understanding how we can help them build amazing applications. Our events schedule is already filling up, so if you're at Monki Gras, FOSDEM, SunshinePHP, PyCascades, or [any of our other upcoming events](, please come say hello, we'll likely have swag. They're also going to be helping us produce more content. Not just on [our developer blog](, but also by expanding our [tutorial coverage on our developer portal](. We want to ensure that no matter what you're building you have a straight forward guide to help you accomplish it. If you have a [use-case](, you'd like to see us cover you can email our developer relations team at [devrel@nexmo.com.](mailto:devrel@nexmo.com) Or if you've come up with an exciting usage of Nexmo's API and want to write about it yourself check out our paid external contributor program; [Developer Spotlight.]( That's all from me for this newsletter. I hope you enjoy it and fingers crossed I'll see you at an event soon.
