MAY 17, 2022 8 Tips for Becoming a Grill Master This Summer Sponsored By: [Kenyon Electric Grills]( City Grill Kenyon Electric Grill It doesn’t quite feel like summer until you’ve attended or thrown your first barbecue. It is an honor to be chosen to be the “Grill Master” of any social occasion, but you can put a lot of pressure on yourself not to disappoint everyone with your grilling skills or lack thereof. Becoming a grill master is like any other skill; you must have the right tools, take the time to learn, take the time to do it correctly and finish it properly. Here are some tips to help you up your grilling game! - Add Flavor- Apply your rub or marinade in advance for the yummiest meat. Rub or marinade should be applied to your food at least an hour before you’re ready to cook. - When To Take Meat Out-Take your meat out of the refrigerator about 20 minutes before you start grilling. Cooking room temperatures steaks allow for a more even cook. - Only Flip Your Meat Once- Flipping your meat multiple times can cause it to lose its natural juices. Cook one side fully, then flip it over to the other side. - Let It Sit- Get the juiciest cuts of meat by letting your meat sit for about 10 minutes before you cut it. - Perfect Your Veggies -Lightly toss veggies in olive oil before grilling to help prevent them from drying out. - Toast Your Buns- This touch is what will set your grilling apart from the other grillers out there. The taste and the texture of buns are best when lightly toasted. Split the bun open, place it cut side down on the grill, and grill until light golden brown, about 30 seconds. - Keep It Clean- Always start off with a clean grilling surface. After you are done grilling clean the grate, so you are all set for the next time you grill. All you need is wet paper towels and a pair of tongs. After grilling, while the grill is still warm, simply wipe across the grilling surface with damp paper towels, and you will remove all the food remains. If you prefer a deeper clean, you can remove your grate/griddle and place directly in the dishwasher. - Have Fun -The top two reasons Americans love to grill (besides to make food), is for personal enjoyment and for entertaining family and friends. Make sure grilling doesn’t feeling like a chore and enjoy yourself. Put on some Jimmy Buffett, crack open a cold one, wear a Hawaiian shirt, and have fun! Try finding a butcher that grinds fresh meat for a burger that wows! Making the Patties- Gently shape 5-6oz of meat into patties just until they hold together and thick enough so they will pick up a grill flavor without overcooking. The patty should be about 1-inch thick. Cool the Patties- Chill your patties in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to an hour before you grill them. They will hold together better and cook more evenly. The Secret Tip- Make an indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to help hold its shape will cooking. Don’t Press- Never press down on a burger with a spatula when it is on the grill. By pressing down you push out the flavorful juices. BBQ for all! Kenyon Electric Grills let everyone in on the fun of grilling. Marbling means the fat is dispersed throughout the steak and the flavor will be, too. The fat adds flavor and makes it tender and juicy. Take Your Turn – grill over high, direct heat and only turn steaks once during cooking. Let it Rest – after grilling, steaks should rest for 5 to 15 minutes so the juices can redistribute throughout the meat.
