Reading and journaling can be fairly solitary, which is why this space is just for you to connect with the NetGalley team and learn tips and tricks for tracking your reading in the NetGalley Reading Journal. Expect to hear from us every other month with new insight into accomplishing your reading goals with the help of your journal. The way you use your journal is unique, so take the tips that work for you and don’t worry about trying to mimic exactly what anyone else is doing. If you need help getting your journal set up, check out the NetGalley Reading Journal User Guide . For some inspiration, here is what our team has to share! Typing or writing out a review takes time. Instead of rewriting my review in my journal, I screenshot the review that I’ve submitted to NetGalley and add the screenshot to the review section of my journal. I love to read backlist books that have been on my shelves for years. Which means that I don’t always read new-to-me authors every month and sometimes I don’t quite make it through my NetGalley TBR. I use stickers to redesign and customize the monthly page spreads to work for what I read that month. I am in my scrapbooking era and love adding stickers to my journal. I was thrilled to realize I could create custom easy-to-access sticker collections with the Elements tool in Goodnotes (iOS). Hallie and I created a quick YouTube tutorial to show how it’s done! Check out our NetGalley Reading Journal Playlist on YouTube for even more video tips and tricks. We love seeing the ways you’re customizing the journal to make it your own! Share your progress with us by tagging @NetGalley on social media and using the hashtag #NetGalleyReadingJournal. Flesch reading score

Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
