Joining together for our students and communities [View as Webpage]( [National Education Association]( [EdJustice]( {NAME}, All students deserve to go to school in a safe, welcoming, environment free of hate. Yet, some people want to divide us based on what we look like, where we come from, or how we pray. Violence and harassment fueled by antisemitism and white nationalism are on the rise across the country, including in our schools and on our campuses. [Please join us on December 7 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT for a timely webinar to discuss how antisemitism animates white nationalism in our classrooms and communities—and what educators can do about it.]( [RSVP TODAY! ➤]( We’ll be joined by Civil Courage Prize award-winner Eric K. Ward, a distinguished expert with decades of experience countering organized hate. Eric will discuss how antisemitism has an impact beyond hate crimes and how white nationalists utilize bigotry toward the Jewish community in order to deconstruct democratic practices, thereby eroding faith in democracy. Educators will gain insights into how a deeper understanding of the power of antisemitism can impact education and racial justice for all of us, whether we are white, Black or brown, Native or newcomer, LGBTQ+ or not. By joining together, we can continue to make the places we live, work, and learn places where every student is safe and can thrive. In solidarity, The NEA EdJustice Team --------------------------------------------------------------- ABOUT Eric K. Ward is the executive vice president of Race Forward, which has worked to dismantle structural racism by building collective community power and transforming institutions for more than 40 years. A nationally-recognized expert on the relationship between authoritarian movements, hate violence, and preserving inclusive democracy, Eric brings over three decades of leadership in community organizing and philanthropy. He has worked with leaders from government, law enforcement, business, and civil rights groups to advance civil rights work. An author, in-demand speaker, and media source, Eric has written multiple works and has been quoted in various widely read media outlets such as The New Yorker, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, ESPN, Black News Channel, NPR, BBC, and Rolling Stone. Additionally, Eric, who has a special interest in the use of music to advance inclusive democracy, used his singer-songwriter talents to help launch the Western States Center Inclusive Democracy Culture Lab. In 2021, Eric became the first American recipient of the Civil Courage Prize, adding to the awards and distinctions he has received throughout his career, including the Peabody-Facebook Futures Media Award.
