Tell Secretary Cardona to extend the PSLF Waiver deadline {NAME}, The Public Service Loan Forgivenes

Tell Secretary Cardona to extend the PSLF Waiver deadline [View as Webpage]( [National Education Association]( [EdAction]( {NAME}, The Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Limited Waiver has helped thousands of educators get their student debt canceled. But this important fix to the PSLF program expires on October 31! The waiver is working. But not everyone has had enough time to apply. [Please email Education Secretary Miguel Cardona right now and ask for the Limited PSLF Waiver deadline to be extended.]( [TAKE ACTION ➤]( The PSLF program allows educators and other public service workers to apply for student loan forgiveness after working in public service for 10 years. Here’s the problem: During the Trump/DeVos administration, applications for PSLF were rejected based on small technicalities, denying educators of the student loan relief they were promised in exchange for their hard work in public schools. More than 90% of applications were rejected as a result. After listening to educators, Secretary Cardona and the Biden Administration put the Limited PSLF Waiver in place, widening the criteria for the program so that more applications were approved. The Limited Waiver has helped deliver $10 billion in student loan forgiveness for public-service workers over the past nine months. The temporary changes to the PSLF program expire at the stroke of midnight on October 31. We’ve been working around the clock to get as many educators as possible to sign up, but we simply need more time. Here’s what you can do: [Send an email to Education Secretary Miguel Cardona and ask that he extend the PLSF waiver deadline.]( even drafted a sample message for you, that you’re welcome to change. Educators work hard for our students and don't get paid enough. Help them get more time to apply for PSLF under the broadened criteria of the Limited Waiver. If they’re granted student debt relief, it will make a huge difference in their lives.
