The mitigation of substance use disorders prevalence and related mortality rates are public health emergencies that demand thoughtful and creative interventions. The work undertaken by federal agencies such as AmeriCorps is critical to successfully respond to this national crisis. Since 2017, AmeriCorps has increased its efforts to fund programs specifically targeting opioid addiction and other SUDs, including programs that use a promising treatment method: recovery coaching. AmeriCorps conducted an evaluation and evaluation capacity building project with a “bundle” of AmeriCorps-supported organizations that use recovery coaching services. This webinar, hosted by ICF, will discuss the evaluation, its findings, and implications for the broader use of evidence-based treatment methods to combat addiction and overdose in the United States. It will also share lessons learned that can be applied to future research. This webinar was commissioned by AmeriCorps’ Office of Research and Evaluation.
