--------------------------------------------------------------- Living creatures do some pretty asto

--------------------------------------------------------------- Living creatures do some pretty astounding things, but we’ve never seen anything like this before: a whale shark with an entire school of fish calmly riding in her mouth. Evans Baudin took the photo while in Baja California, Mexico, and his image showcases the giant female shark seemingly happy to give her passengers a ride where they needed to go. “After two hours in the water with a school of silky sharks near the surface, our boat captain yelled, ‘Whale shark, right behind you!'—a 12-plus-meter female," Baudin explained. "The surprise was twofold when I discovered about 50 remoras peacefully enjoying a free ride in her mouth!” Want a daily digest email featuring our latest articles? Indian wildlife and conservation photographer Dhritiman Mukherjee snapped a photo of a male gharial (aka fish-eating crocodile) giving a ride to more than 100 of his month-old babies. And from the sounds of it, he's a doting dad. “This male had mated with seven or eight females, and you can see that it was very much involved,” shares Mukherjee. “Normally the gharial is quite a shy crocodile compared with the saltwater and marsh crocs. But this one was very protective and if I got too close, it would charge me. It could be very aggressive.” [Proud Crocodile Father Gives Piggyback Ride to Over 100 of His Children]() [Crocodile carrying babies on his back]() [View on My Modern Met](=) Wildlife photographers spend a lot of time out in the field—sometimes hundreds of days a year—affording them the opportunity to snap incredible shots. As photographer Mark Cowan traveled down the Amazon, he spotted a lounging caiman with a vibrant crown of butterflies. The caiman's coy expression shows that he doesn't seem to mind the attention. [Once-In-A-Lifetime Photo Captures a Caiman Wearing a Crown of Butterflies in the Amazon](=) [Caiman With Butterfly Crown]() [View on My Modern Met]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Have you ever looked at a photographer's Instagram feed and wondered how they got so lucky to travel the world and do what they love?
