[Shop All Best NEW Fonts]( PG Grotesque [PG Grotesque]( #11 PG Grotesque by Paulo Goode This is my interpretation of Edel Grotesk – a “lost typeface” from circa 1914 produced by Johannes Wagner GmbH of Ingolstadt, Germany. PG Grotesque is definitely not a revival, or even a faithful reproduction of that typeface as I was unable to source enough accurate references. What I have done is take the essence and unique characteristics of that typeface and brought this forgotten gem right into the 21st century. The full family features 99 fonts spread across 9 weights and 6 widths. PG Grotesque is also available as a single variable font so that you can fine tune the width, weight, and italic angle to your exact preference. 99 fonts for $300 $180 [Shop PG Grotesque Now]( [PG Grotesque Designer]( Let's hear from the Designer. Q1) Where did the idea for the typeface come from? Did you set out to address a specific use or suite of the application? Was this a design you'd had in mind for a while? One of my pastimes is ‘type hunting’. This can entail discovering type on historic buildings, books, or, in this case, movie opening credits. I will then use these influences to create a full typeface. I discovered two instances of an unusual, high-waisted sans serif in opening titles for Italian films from the 1970s. After some research, I found that they had used a ‘lost typeface’ called Edel Grotesk from c.1914. To my knowledge, there had not been a digital revival of that family, so I set about creating my own interpretation of it with the very limited resources I could gather together. Q2) What should graphic communicators know about the typeface, or how will the family of fonts help them create better designs? After creating the initial character set that emulated Edel Grotesk, I began to create some promotional images for it and realised that this design would be robust enough to accommodate multiple widths and weights. I set about expanding the family so that it could handle numerous applications. This resulted in a typeface with 99 fonts... or, a single variable font with 99 default instances and every weight, width, and italic angle in between. This makes PG Grotesque one of the most comprehensive type families around. 99 fonts for $300 $180 [Shop PG Grotesque Now]( Total Black [Total Black]( #12 Total Black by Resistenza Say hello to our first Sans Serif, a modern font family inspired by classic grotesk typefaces. Q1) Where did the idea for the typeface come from? Did you set out to address a specific use or suite of the application? Was this a design you'd had in mind for a while? TotalBlack emerged from our vision to create a sans-serif font family defined by striking contrast. Its unique characteristics ensure attention-grabbing visuals, making it a go-to choice for projects that demand a combination of style and readability. Q2) What should graphic communicators know about the typeface, or how will the family of fonts help them create better designs? TotalBlack font employs its striking high contrast to skillfully emphasize key focal points. When strategically applied, it transforms headlines, calls to action, and focal elements into visually compelling compositions. The font's dynamic axis shifts and weight variations introduce elegance and progression to designs, allowing graphic communicators to convey hierarchy and subtle narrative nuances. The font has 31 OpenType features, among which are localization features for various languages, circled numerators, and stylistic alternate for the ampersand. 23 fonts for $269 $161.40 [Shop TT Firs Text Now]( [TT Firs Text Designer]( Let's hear from the Designer. Q1) Where did the idea for the typeface come from? Did you set out to address a specific use or suite of the application? Was this a design you'd had in mind for a while? Only a few font families in our library are designed specifically as a text and headline pair. TT Firs Text is one of them: this is a pair for TT Firs Neue. The font's graphic based on TT Firs Neue was made more neutral while still maintaining a minimalist Scandinavian aesthetic. Designers often struggle with finding the right pair for a display font, so the core idea of TT Firs Text was to simplify this task. If you choose TT Firs Neue for your project, add TT Firs Text to type text blocks, and your design will look perfectly balanced. Q2) What should graphic communicators know about the typeface, or how will the family of fonts help them create better designs? TT Firs Text is a geometric sans serif. The font's Scandinavian-style graphics are rather minimalist. While crafting it, I reworked all expressive elements, giving them a calmer and more traditional look. Due to more standardized text typing, the font remains legible and readable even if a small point size is chosen for typing the text block. TT Firs Text is highly versatile and can be implemented both independently and together with TT Firs Neue. Its application range knows no bounds: this font is a perfect match for branding, book typesetting, web, mobile apps, posters, and packaging design. 23 fonts for $269 $161.40 [Shop TT Firs Text Now]( Royalis [Royalis]( #14 Royalis by Julien Fincker Royalis is an expressive and extravagant serif typeface family. It is characterized by a high contrast and dynamic features in the details, such as long terminals or deep inktraps. Royalis is available in three versions: a display version in six weights, a corresponding condensed version also for display applications, and a text version for body text in four weights. It also comes with all the corresponding italics. This makes Royalis versatile, especially for editorial, packaging, branding and advertising. The wide range of weights and possibilities allows Royalis to be used variably. The thinner weights are characterized by their elegance, while the thicker weights captivate with their powerful contrast. They complement each other like the three musketeers once did. Be it the charmingly elegant Aramis, the sober strategist Athos, the powerful ruffian Porthos or the charismatic d'Artagnan, who led the group. 32 fonts for $209.95 $125.97 [Shop Royalis Now]( [Royalis designer]( Let's hear from the Designer. Q1) Where did the idea for the typeface come from? Did you set out to address a specific use or suite of the application? Was this a design you'd had in mind for a while? The idea of creating Royalis was very experimental at the beginning. I wanted to draw a serif typeface with a strong personality – elegant and powerful. During the first sketches, I added playful elements like long terminals, cut ball serifs and deep inktraps, which gave the look a unique character. These dynamic elements made Royalis more and more extravagant and the association with the Musketeers grew. The different weights and styles complement each other like the three musketeers once did. Be it the charmingly elegant Aramis, the sober strategist Athos, the powerful ruffian Porthos or the charismatic d‘Artagnan, who led the group. Q2) What should graphic communicators know about the typeface, or how will the family of fonts help them create better designs? Right from the start, I wanted Royalis to be a very helpful and versatile typeface for every user. That’s why I decided to draw three versions – a display version, a shortened version and a text version. This means it can be used for large headlines as well as smaller text. So you can use just one typeface for a whole project and its various challenges instead of having to search for different suitable fonts. I also wanted Royalis to be very playful and fun for designers. That’s why I’ve added lots of ligatures, alternates and other interesting features to discover. 32 fonts for $209.95 $125.97 [Shop Royalis Now]( Winner Sans [Winner Sans]( #15 Winner Sans by sportsfonts Winner Sans and Winner—Classic athletic aesthetics, finally as a versatile contemporary super family. Q1) Where did the idea for the typeface come from? Did you set out to address a specific use or suite of the application? Was this a design you'd had in mind for a while? Designing Winner and Winner Sans was like doing something that someone else had forgotten to do. When I started Sportsfonts with the aim of making custom fonts for sports clubs, I was surprised to see that no one had done the classic chamfered sports design well and consistently in many widths and weights before. So I started Winner, and later I added the more versatile Sans companion together with Sven. Q2) What should graphic communicators know about the typeface, or how will the family of fonts help them create better designs? Winner Sans is like a tool that no toolbox should be without. It’s a classic design without extravagance that can be used for more than just sports design thanks to its versatility – which has been further enhanced by the recent addition of a variable font. 50 fonts for $149 $89.40 [Shop Winner Sans Now]( Our Best New fonts of 2023 Sale ends January 30th at 11:59 p.m. EST., Shop [ALL font deals]( now Monotype Imaging Inc. 600 Unicorn Park Drive Woburn, MA 01801 USA London, UK | Berlin, DE | Noida, IN | Seoul, KR | Tokyo, JP | Shanghai, CN The promotions featured in this email newsletter are only valid for purchases made online at MyFonts.com.
