Berthold is renowned for crafting high-quality typefaces that stand the test of time. [MyFonts.com]( [View in Browser]( Explore the wonderful Berthold library. Founded in 1858 by Hermann Berthold in Berlin, Berthold is renowned for crafting high-quality typefaces that stand the test of time. [Hot New Fonts]( [Best Sellers]( [What's New]( [Special Offers]( [Bundles]( [WhatTheFont]( To complement its proprietary typesetting equipment business activities, Berthold developed world class typefaces. The H. Berthold foundry's most celebrated family of typefaces is arguably [Akzidenz-Grotesk]( (released 1896), known as the mother of all sans serifs. They would continue to create more influential typefaces with AG Book, Barmeno, Block, City, Delta, Formata, Imago, and many other new and long-time favorites. Their legendary typefaces are now more accessible to creatives than ever before. [Explore the Berthold Library]( [Barmeno]( Barmeno® by Berthold Hans Reichel designed Barmeno for H. Berthold in 1983. This rounded sans serif has distinctive individual characters but when viewed in bodies of text, it is warm, harmonious and legible. Barmeno often is used for ad copy, and magazine and web layouts. The extra bold weight is especially good for attention-grabbing headlines. [Shop Barmeno]( [City]( City® by Berthold Designed for attention and impact in advertising, the first Egyptians or slab serifs appeared at the beginning of the Industrial Revolution (1800s). They regained popularity following World War I and in 1930 Berthold released Georg Trump’s City, a distinctive, rectangular design that evokes a sporty, urban feeling. [Shop City]( [Imago]( Imago® by Berthold Developing a new sans serif clearly distinguishable from existing sans serifs is a difficult task. Günter Gerhard Lange accomplished that with Imago, introduced by Berthold in 1982. It is narrower in proportion than others, has a square-like shape to its curves and numerals that are slightly shorter than its cap height. Particular attention was given to the expression of each individual character and great care was taken to keep them open and clear even in the smallest of sizes and boldest of weights. Under the direction of Günter Gerhard Lange, bold and bold italic weights were added in 2000, making Imago an extremely well-balanced family with universal applicability. Imago is especially useful for office memorandum, and scanning and faxing documents.
