We are thrilled to announce that the Award-Winning Colophon Foundry and Library have joined the Monotype Family. [Hot New Fonts]( [Best Sellers]( [What's New]( [Special Offers]( [Bundles]( [WhatTheFont]( [Colophon Foundry]( The Colophon catalogue includes 50 font families, including [Apercu™](, a contemporary font that references classic realist typefaces, [Basis Grotesque™](, initially inspired by early Grotesques but ultimately pivoting to a more behaved and shapely style, and [Mabry™](, rendered from the overlaps of both precedent-setting grotesque and geometric types. This library is now available through MyFonts for the first time, with many fonts available in variable format. We invite you to celebrate the addition of this exceptional catalogue to the Monotype library and to give a warm welcome to the Colophon team. [Explore the Catalogue]( [Apercu™]( Apercu™ by Colophon Foundry Drawing of Aperçu began in December 2009, and was tried & tested throughout a number of design commissions. Aperçu aimed to create a synopsis or amalgamation of classic realist typefaces: Johnston, Gill Sans, Neuzeit & Franklin Gothic into a contemporary flavor. A sum of parts from the outset, Aperçu builds upon these initial reference points to create an extensive and usable family. Since its release in August 2010, Aperçu has quickly found its position in the market, being used across a variety of different media and sectors around the world across a multitude of touchpoints. Utilized by leading visual institutions such as MOMA, Burberry, De Wiels, Zeit Magazine and the Walker Art Center amongst many others. [Shop Apercu Now]( [Basis Grotesque™]( Basis Grotesque™ by Colophon Foundry Initially drawn in a single Regular style for the comprehensive re-design of photography magazine Hotshoe. Basis was exhaustively refined and extended into a seven-style brood, and in-so-doing has been tested in copious iterations and sub-iterations across countless platforms, printed and otherwise. Initial points of inspiration — among them Akzidenz and various early Grotesques from Monotype — were ultimately eschewed-but-honored to create something slightly more behaved and shapely. An intentional skeletal similarity among the weights prompts an otherwise truly diverse clan of types, ranging from Light to Black. [Shop Basis Grotesque Now]( [Mabry™]( Mabry™ by Colophon Foundry Originally commissioned in 2014 for Los Angeles-based apparel company Nasty Gal—named as such after the 1975 album and song of the same name by influential funk singer Betty Davis (b. Betty Mabry, 1945)—Mabry is the commercial iteration of the former NG Grotesque. With one foot amidst the idiosyncratic forms of the late 19th Century grotesques / grotesks, and the other among the rational maths of early 20th Century geometric sans-serifs, Mabry posits itself as several things at once: simultaneously contemporary and historic, rigorous and gestural, objective and subjective, cultivated and imprecise, refined and coarse all at once.Rendered from the would-be overlaps of these precedent-setting grotesque (ex. Schelter & Giesecke’s Briete, 1890) and geometric (ex. Renner’s Futura, 1927) types, Mabry is a vernacular study in dualities: the type is candid and forthright, but also a bit mischievous at times. It can prove pleasantly blunt in certain settings but also contains necessary moments of sensitivity and delicacy in its drawing. In its ideal application, Mabry manages to reference a vague past, capture a particular version of the present, and posit an amorphous timelessness [Shop Mabry Now]( MyFonts Inc. 600 Unicorn Park Drive Woburn, MA 01801 USA London, UK | Berlin, DE | Noida, IN | Seoul, KR | Tokyo, JP | Shanghai, CN The promotions featured in this email newsletter are only valid for purchases made online at MyFonts.com.
