One Irish botanist, [Sir Hans Sloane]( was given this early form of hot cocoa while he was cataloguing plants in Jamaica. While he thought it was pretty gross at first, Sloane brought the drink back to England, where he combined the plant with creamy milk and sugar to make it more palatable. The rest, as they say, is history. Today, in New York City lunchrooms alone, more than 60 million cartons of chocolate milk are consumed every year.
