GunDigest
The SVD may be the world’s most iconic sniper rifle despite not technically being a sniper rifle. Developed to be integrated into every Soviet army squadron as a support weapon similar to a machine gun or grenade launcher, the SVD only had to be accurate enough to effectively engage enemy targets at a max of about 800 meters. It was intended to provide precise, suppressive fire on enemy positions as well as pick off high value targets. [READ MORE]( [The Smith & Wesson military & police revolver](

As a young child growing up in the late 1960s and early ’70s, hearing those words blast over the TV on a Saturday evening meant that the next 30 minutes were going to be thrilling. Watching “Adam-12” on NBC was something I really looked forward to and I was enthralled with how officers Malloy and Reed handled street crime in Los Angeles. It gave me an early respect for police officers, especially the firearms they carried. [READ MORE]( [Model 1877 Gatling Gun on display at BW Edwards Weapons Museum](

Those in my age group who grew up on B-Western Saturday matinee movies in the 1940s, followed by a long list of TV Westerns in the 1950s, could easily be convinced there was only one single-action sixgun in the period from 1870 to 1890 — the Colt Single Action Army. However, there were more large frame single-actions aside from Colt available during this time period. [READ MORE]( SPONSORED VIDEO [Best Magazines for 6mm Arc?](

In 1919, Winchester vice president Edwin Pugsley brilliantly coined the marketing slogan “The Gun That Won The West.” He was referring to the Winchester Model 1873 lever action, which–ironically enough–was on the verge of being discontinued, as by that time, the West had already been won. However, Winchester was riding to newfound fame with an even more popular and ultimately more prolific lever action, one that can be credited as having helped settle the West. When I first started carrying a gun I hauled around a 5-shot S&W 442 with two HKS speedloaders. Like millions of other concealed carriers, I took the advice of a gun shop guru who insisted that wheel guns were the end-all, be-all in pocket carry. And in many ways they are correct; double-action snub-nosed revolvers are very easy to conceal, flawlessly reliable, and available in calibers that can certainly stop assailants in their tracks. [To Restore, or Not to Restore?](
Turnbull Restoration Co. Inc.
That’s the foundational question that collectors and heirloom owners should ask when considering what could become a journey to revitalize, or perhaps even resurrect, a classic firearm. Turnbull Restoration Co. has helped its customers understand all the ins and outs of firearm restoration for over 30 years. In fact, it may surprise many how much restoration work the company actually declines. It’s because Turnbull knew from the beginning that helping with decision-making that’s right for the customer is what would be right for the company. The first truly modern police department was created by Napoleon I in the wake of the French Revolution. In fact, the Paris Prefecture of Police was the first uniformed, professionally organized police department in the world. The London Metropolitan Police Department was organized and led by Sir Robert Peele shortly after, and in 1838 the concept reached Boston and New York City by 1844. Regardless if you procured an outdated rifle from an older family member, via a gun-show purchase or through some other method, you hope the vintage shooting iron still hurtles projectiles downrange accurately. You may get lucky with that classic gun, but you also may struggle with it spitting bullets irregularly like a malfunctioning baseball pitching machine. You might address the issue via a gun shop visit or DIY gunsmithing. Additionally, consider these five upgrades as possible remedies for errant rounds. There’s something about the looks, feel and function of a 1911, but its heft is a bit too much for some who want comfortable all-day carry. The grip length also adds to the challenge of avoiding printing through clothing, although there has been no shortage of attempts to shrink 1911 ergonomics and controls into a small, pocketable pistol. The Colt Mustang that first appeared in 1983 is probably the best-known example, but it vanished from production by 1996. It came back by 2011 but the line is once again idle. [READ MORE](

This trapper is equipped with the factory 15 inch barrel in 30 WCF caliber. It has been used as a tool and looks it although it does look better than most trappers that you see. Receiver is a grey color. Barrel has quite a bit of blue. More wear towards the muzzle on both barrel and mag tube. A couple of dings in the mag tube. Has original carbine sights. Wood is actually not that bad. A little undersized at the buttplate. Fit is fair at both tangs. A bit of wood missing on the top right. Normal dings and scratches but is not broken. Forearm wood is quite good with no missing wood. Gun looks used but cared for having a VG+ bore. Decent trapper with ATF clearance papers.
