--------------------------------------------------------------- Budget Magic: $65 Surveil Surprise -

[MTGGoldfish][Magic Newsletter] [width="1"] --------------------------------------------------------------- Ranking Every Murders at Karlov Manor Commander --------------------------------------------------------------- Tomer ranks all the new commander options from Murders at Karlov Manor![Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Budget Magic: $65 Surveil Surprise --------------------------------------------------------------- 2BSurprise-36de8ede-1fc6-4224-b46a-5e00d9f3c75f%2Ejpg Can a new Lost Caverns of Ixalan addition and a surprise transformational sideboard plan let a $65 build of Surveil compete in Pioneer? Let's find out![Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive --------------------------------------------------------------- [Dream Chisel](Chisel#paper) [Hall of the Bandit Lord](of+Kamigawa/Hall+of+the+Bandit+Lord#paper) [Forensic Gadgeteer](Murders+at+Karlov+Manor/Forensic+Gadgeteer#paper) This week the world of Magic finance was a surprisingly quiet one. The biggest gainer this week was [Dream Chisel](Chisel#paper) which jumped from under $2 to over $5 thanks to the face-down theme of Murders at Karlov Manor. While the artifact is a decent ramp spell for a face-down deck, expect the gains to be short term. We've already seen [Dream Chisel](Chisel#paper) spike once before - all the way up to $9 - right after the [Kadena, Slinking Sorcerer](2019:Foil/Kadena+Slinking+Sorcerer#paper) Commander precon was printed back in 2019, but over the past few years the card has slowly but steadily dropped all the way back down under $2 even though it hasn't been reprinted. If you have extra copies I'd look to sell them now - after the hype for the new Murders at Karlov Manor disguise and cloak cards start to fade, the price of [Dream Chisel](Chisel#paper) will fall. Plus sooner or later it will get reprinted which should push the rare back down to bulk prices. Meanwhile in Commander, [Hall of the Bandit Lord](List/Hall+of+the+Bandit+Lord#paper) is on the rise, gaining 42% this week to $17 thanks to [Anzrag, the Quake-Mole](Murders+at+Karlov+Manor/Anzrag+the+Quake-Mole#paper). The Mole God is currently the third most popular new Murders at Karlov Manor commander according to EDHRec and the Mole God really likes haste, making [Hall of the Bandit Lord](List/Hall+of+the+Bandit+Lord#paper) the perfect addition to an Anzrag deck. Personally I'd be looking to sell my copies into the hype - Wizards has focused heavily on reprinting Kamigawa legendary lands lately and while [Hall of the Bandit Lord](List/Hall+of+the+Bandit+Lord#paper) has shown up on the List and in a Secret Lair drop, it hasn't gotten a full reprinting. But odds are it will happen soon, which will crush the price of the land, since outside of a couple of Commander decks, it doesn't see meaningful play. Speaking of Murders at Karlov Manor, the value of the set doesn't seem great for box openers. I opened five collector booster boxes this week and didn't even manage to break even on a single one. Sure, you can hit a serialized card or maybe an expensive invisible ink card and come out ahead, but it seems super hard to get your money back without winning the special treatment/serialized lotto. Even with [Forensic Gadgeteer](Murders+at+Karlov+Manor/Forensic+Gadgeteer#paper) nearly tripling up in price this week to $5, this seems like the type of set where you should definitely buy singles rather than opening boxes. --------------------------------------------------------------- Podcast 469: The Most Exciting Cards from Murders at Karlov Manor --------------------------------------------------------------- The crew breaks down Murders of Karlov Manor for 60 card constructed formats by discussing the ten best cards in the set![Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Single Scoop: Merfolk Are A Timeless Archetype --------------------------------------------------------------- Merfolk is so close to being playable in Timeless.
