Remastered/Massacre+Girl-borderless+Anime#paper Ravnica Remastered was fully previewed this week. The base set is a bit of a disappointment with only Cyclonic Rift and Bruvac at the top end, but the set does include old border cards, anime cards, and the shocklands. [Triumph of Saint Katherine](40K+Commander+Decks/Triumph+of+Saint+Katherine#paper)
[Cyclonic Rift](Remastered/Cyclonic+Rift#paper) This week in the world of Magic finance the biggest winner was [Return to the Ranks](2015+Core+Set/Return+to+the+Ranks#paper) which gained more than 300% to nearly $10. While the white mass reanimation spell has seen some fringe play in the past, it has recently developed into a staple in one of the hottest decks in Pioneer: Amalia Combo. The goal of the deck is to assemble the combo of [Amalia Benavides Aguirre (showcase)](Caverns+of+Ixalan/Amalia+Benavides+Aguirre-showcase#paper) and [Wildgrowth Walker](Walker#paper). With this set up, if you explore, you'll start an infinite-ish loop of Amalia triggering Walker which triggers Amalia until eventually [Amalia Benavides Aguirre (showcase)](Caverns+of+Ixalan/Amalia+Benavides+Aguirre-showcase#paper) hits 20 power, blows up the board and most likely one-shots the opponent. [Return to the Ranks](2015+Core+Set/Return+to+the+Ranks#paper) is the perfect support card for the deck allowing you to assemble the combo from the graveyard after you mill a combo piece to explore or fight through removal on Amalia or [Wildgrowth Walker](Walker#paper). The deck is currently the 5th most-played in the post-banning Pioneer meta, although it seems unlikely that [Return to the Ranks](2015+Core+Set/Return+to+the+Ranks#paper) will spike too much higher in the short term. Although with the next Pro Tour featuring Pioneer, if the deck breaks out on the big stage, all bets are off. Meanwhile, Eternal Weekend happened last week and the winning Legacy deck was an [Up the Beanstalk](of+Eldraine/Up+the+Beanstalk#paper) brew featuring the Warhammer 40k card [Triumph of Saint Katherine](40K+Commander+Decks/Triumph+of+Saint+Katherine#paper) as a big lifelinking body that can repeatedly trigger [Up the Beanstalk](of+Eldraine/Up+the+Beanstalk#paper) for just two-mana. As a result the card nearly tripled in price this week from around $7 to just under $21 making it the most expensive card from the Warhammer release. If you happen to have some copies sitting around that you aren't using, I'd trade them away into the hype. It seems likely that this is [Triumph of Saint Katherine](40K+Commander+Decks/Triumph+of+Saint+Katherine#paper)'s 15 minutes of fame. Finally, this week the full spoiler for Ravnica Remastered dropped and, at least at first glance, the set seems like a huge disappointment. There are only two cards in the set with base versions currently worth more than $20 - [Cyclonic Rift](Masters/Cyclonic+Rift#paper) and [Bruvac the Grandiloquent](Remastered/Bruvac+the+Grandiloquent#paper) - and a ton of bulk rares. However, there are two special treatments in the set - borderless (including some borderless anime cards) and retro (including old border shocklands) - which could help lift the overall value of the set. Still, the set list is so weak and the price of the set is so high (around $175 a box) that for the average player, this seems like the exact type of set you should skip cracking and instead snag some cheap singles, especially the ever-in-demand shocklands. --------------------------------------------------------------- Upgrading My Commander Decks: Lost Caverns of Ixalan
