[Grief](Horizons+2/Grief#paper)
[Alquist Proft, Master Sleuth](Murders+at+Karlov+Manor/Alquist+Proft+Master+Sleuth#paper) This week in the world of Magic finance the biggest winner - by far - was [Smuggler's Copter](Copter#paper). We talked last week about the potential of it being unbanned in Pioneer and that's exactly what happened: the price is up a massive 314% to nearly $11. We don't have a ton of tournament results for post-ban Pioneer yet, although the bit of Magic Online data we do have suggests that a lot of players are trying out the vehicle in a variety of shells. Does [Smuggler's Copter](Copter#paper) stick and become a new staple or is this just players messing around with their new toy? I'm not sure, although I am pretty confident that price-wise this is the peak for [Smuggler's Copter](Copter#paper) - even if it ends up a Pioneer staple, it's been reprinted multiple times recently so supply is fairly high. If you have extra copies you don't need I'd look to sell them into the hype. Meanwhile in Modern some of the biggest gainers in this fairly quiet week were cards that players expected to be banned but dodged the hammer. [Grief](Horizons+2/Grief#paper) gained back 15% to just under $29 and [Orcish Bowmasters](Lord+of+the+Rings+Tales+of+Middle+Earth/Orcish+Bowmasters#paper) climbed 5% to $46. What about the cards that did get banned? [Fury](Horizons+2/Fury#paper) is currently at $24 and falling. Recent sales on TCGplayer are in the $13-$15 price range. Being among the ten most-played creatures in Legacy means that [Fury](Horizons+2/Fury#paper) won't drop to zero, but considering its lack of Commander play, I'm not sure it will stick above $10 long term. This is a massive fall from its nearly $50 peak a few months ago. On the other hand, [Karn, the Great Creator](of+the+Spark/Karn+the+Great+Creator#paper) (which was banned in Pioneer) has ticked down slightly, losing less than $1 this week to $15. The planeswalker is still a Modern staple and, unlike [Fury](Horizons+2/Fury#paper), does see some Commander play which means its price likely won't be hurt much by the banning. Finally, this week we got a sneak peak at the new Standard set Murders at Karlov Manor which drops in February. While the set looks pretty sweet, the bigger news is that the new play booster boxes went up for presale on Amazon at just over $200 a box, which would represent a massive price increase. The good news is that from everything we've heard from Wizards and from vendors, this price isn't realistic. The new play boosters should sell for roughly the same as set boosters on a per-pack basis (play booster boxes are 36 packs compared to 30 for set boosters, so the total price for a box will be higher). The best estimates I've seen put a play booster box of Murders at Karlov Manor at somewhere between $145 and $160. Don't buy the Amazon presales - boxes are almost certainly going to sell for much, much less than the current Amazon price. --------------------------------------------------------------- Commander Clash Podcast 124: Graveyard Hate Tier List
