[Smuggler's Copter](Copter#paper)
[Merrow Commerce](Commerce#paper) This week in the world of Magic finance, the biggest news is impending bans and unbans coming to Modern and Pioneer on Monday. A few days ago Wizards did a stream explaining their ban philosophy and announcing the upcoming bannings and based on the conversation, people seem to be betting that [Fury](Horizons+2/Fury#paper) will be getting the hammer in Modern. In the few days since the stream, the evoke Elemental has already lost 18% of its value down to $33 after peaking at just below $50 a month ago. Its Rakdos Scam friend [Grief](Horizons+2/Grief#paper) is on the downswing as well, losing 8% to $25 which suggests that the market thinks [Fury](Horizons+2/Fury#paper) is more likely to be banned than [Grief](Horizons+2/Grief#paper). Interestingly [Orcish Bowmasters](Lord+of+the+Rings+Tales+of+Middle+Earth/Orcish+Bowmasters#paper) - another card Wizards discussed during the stream - is flat on the week, sitting at $44. Unlike [Fury](Horizons+2/Fury#paper) and [Grief](Horizons+2/Grief#paper) which are exclusively 60-card constructed staples, it seems that the heavy Commander play [Orcish Bowmasters](Lord+of+the+Rings+Tales+of+Middle+Earth/Orcish+Bowmasters#paper) sees might keep its price high even if it does get banned in Modern. Meanwhile, Wizards explicitly stated that something would be unbanned in Pioneer and it seems like most people are betting on [Smuggler's Copter](Neon+Dynasty+Commander/Smugglers+Copter#paper) which more than doubled in price from $1 to $2.15 this week. Back before the looter scooter was banned in Pioneer, it cost as much as $10. If it really does get unbanned, it seems likely to spike even higher next week. This said, it was semi-recently reprinted in a Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty Commander precon and it also got a Secret Lair reprinting which means supply is much higher today than it was back in 2019 when it was first banned, which should help keep prices in check even if it does become a new Pioneer staple. Finally in Commander, it's been another week of huge Merfolk price increases, which makes sense; discounting [Pantlaza, Sun-Favored (extended)](Caverns+of+Ixalan+Commander/Pantlaza+Sun-Favored-extended#paper), the new Merfolk legend [Hakbal of the Surging Soul (foil etched)](Caverns+of+Ixalan+Commander:Foil/Hakbal+of+the+Surging+Soul-foil+etched#paper) is the most popular new legend from the Lost Cavern of Ixalan according to EDHRec. As such, a lot of people are building, upgrading and buying Merfolk. This week the biggest gainer was [Merrow Commerce](Commerce#paper) with the uncommon enchantment gaining 176% to just under $29, which is an absurd price for an uncommon, although [Wanderwine Prophets](Prophets#paper) and [Thada Adel, Acquisitor](Adel+Acquisitor#paper) both posted meaningful gains as well. --------------------------------------------------------------- Podcast 461: We Tell Wizards How to Fix Modern
