The biggest gainer of the week is a card that technically hasn't even released yet in [Spelunking](Caverns+of+Ixalan/Spelunking#paper). The Lost Caverns of Ixalan enchantment shot up nearly 600% going from bulk uncommon to nearly $3 as players discuss its potential in Modern Amulet Titan decks. While having your lands come into play untapped is oddly worse than having them come into play tapped and then untapping them as [Amulet of Vigor](Booster+Retail+Edition+Foils:Foil/Amulet+of+Vigor#paper) does, the combination of offering an extra land drop and working as a bad, backup [Amulet of Vigor](Booster+Retail+Edition+Foils:Foil/Amulet+of+Vigor#paper) might be enough for the enchantment to show up in the deck. Toss in some Commander play (where the enchantment greatly improves any budget manabase full of tapped lands) and potential in the Gates decks in Pioneer, it's looking like [Spelunking](Caverns+of+Ixalan/Spelunking#paper) will be the chase uncommon of the set. If you crack some packs, make sure to check the uncommon slot. Meanwhile [Worldfire](2013/Worldfire#paper) is on the rise, increasing 31% on the week to $14.44. Since being unbanned in Commander a couple of years ago, the sorcery hasn't really seen much play. But now thanks to the suspend theme of Doctor Who, it's gaining some traction. It's especially popular in [The Tenth Doctor](Who:Foil/The+Tenth+Doctor#paper) decks where it works as a finisher, although it's hard to imagine a card like [Worldfire](2013/Worldfire#paper) ever being a Commander staple since the unwritten rules of the format discourage mass land destruction. Its current price is mostly driven by the fact it is a decade old mythic that has never been reprinted. If you need a copy to play with, snagging one is fine, but sooner or later the reprint will happen and the price of [Worldfire](2013/Worldfire#paper)] should crash back down towards bulk since it simply doesn't see that much play. If you have copies you aren't using I'd considering dumping them now while prices are high. Speaking of reprints, the Lost Caverns of Ixalan Commander precons have some of the best reprints we've ever seen in commander precons, which makes them solid value at their current $35-ish price. The Pirate deck has [Black Market Connections](Caverns+of+Ixalan+Commander/Black+Market+Connections#paper) ($25), and [Pitiless Plunderer](Caverns+of+Ixalan+Commander/Pitiless+Plunderer#paper) ($10). The Vampire deck has [Exquisite Blood](Caverns+of+Ixalan+Commander/Exquisite+Blood#paper) ($30). Merfolk gets [Branching Evolution](Caverns+of+Ixalan+Commander/Branching+Evolution#paper) ($18), [Thassa, God of the Sea](Caverns+of+Ixalan+Commander/Thassa+God+of+the+Sea#paper) ($8), and [Metallic Mimic](Caverns+of+Ixalan+Commander/Metallic+Mimic#paper) ($8), while Dinosaurs have [Akroma's Will](Caverns+of+Ixalan+Commander/Akromas+Will#paper) ($19), [Apex Altisaur](2019/Apex+Altisaur#paper) ($13), and [Chandra's Ignition](Origins/Chandras+Ignition#paper) ($10). Toss in a bunch of $2-$5 reprints, the new cards, and each and every Lost Caverns of Ixalan precon represents a solid buy from a value perspective. You really can't go wrong no matter which one you choose. --------------------------------------------------------------- Weekly Update (Oct 29): Lost Caverns of Ixalan Previews --------------------------------------------------------------- This week in MTG news: Lost Caverns of Ixalan Previews.[Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Podcast 457: We Discover Lost Caverns of Ixalan --------------------------------------------------------------- The crew talks Lost Caverns of Ixalan spoilers![Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Commander Clash Podcast 119: We Read Your MEAN Comments --------------------------------------------------------------- It's time to clap back at your MEAN comments![Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Single Scoop: This Battle Just Needed Impact Tremors? --------------------------------------------------------------- The invasion of Segovia seems sweet. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
