--------------------------------------------------------------- Budget Magic: $91 Mono-Green -------

[MTGGoldfish][Magic Newsletter] [width="1"] --------------------------------------------------------------- ChatGPT Builds Our Decks | Commander Clash S15E2 --------------------------------------------------------------- We force ChatGPT to build us commander decks! Has "AI" advanced enough to handle it?[Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Budget Magic: $91 Mono-Green (Standard) --------------------------------------------------------------- 2Ejpg Green has been the worst color in Standard for the past year, but can cards like Polukranos, Nissa, and Tribute to the World Tree bring it back now that Rakdos is banned? Let's find out![Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive --------------------------------------------------------------- [Ishkanah, Grafwidow](Moon/Ishkanah+Grafwidow#paper) [Polar Kraken](Age/Polar+Kraken#paper) [Demilich](in+the+Forgotten+Realms/Demilich#paper) This week in the world of finance things were fairly quiet, although we do see some new Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth cards having an impact on the market. Last week we talked about how [Shelob, Child of Ungoliant](Lord+of+the+Rings+Tales+of+Middle+Earth/Shelob+Child+of+Ungoliant#paper) is one of the new legends people are most excited to build and this week the Spider-related price increases continue with [Ishkanah, Grafwidow](List/Ishkanah+Grafwidow#paper) shooting up 69% to nearly $2.50. Current EDHRec has Shelob as the second most popular commander from the set behind [Tom Bombadil (showcase)](Lord+of+the+Rings+Tales+of+Middle+Earth/Tom+Bombadil-showcase#paper). As such, it wouldn't be a surprise to see other Spider-focused cards increase as people build their decks. Speaking of new Lord of the Rings commander, [Polar Kraken](Age/Polar+Kraken#paper) was bought out this week, briefly spiking from $2 to $20 before dropping back down under $5. This seems to be due to [The Watcher in the Water](Lord+of+the+Rings+Tales+of+Middle+Earth/The+Watcher+in+the+Water#paper), which can untap Krakens, helping get around [Polar Kraken](Age/Polar+Kraken#paper)'s drawback of coming into play tapped. Unfortunately [The Watcher in the Water](Lord+of+the+Rings+Tales+of+Middle+Earth/The+Watcher+in+the+Water#paper) doesn't help you avoid sacrificing an increasing number of lands each turn to cumulative upkeep, which means that [Polar Kraken](Age/Polar+Kraken#paper) is likely more of a meme than a legitimately good card for [The Watcher in the Water](Lord+of+the+Rings+Tales+of+Middle+Earth/The+Watcher+in+the+Water#paper) decks. This seems to be backed up by the data. Since the buyout on June 12th, not a single copy of [Polar Kraken](Age/Polar+Kraken#paper) has sold at its new price point. This seems to be a MTG finance play and a misguided one at that. Feel free to ignore the price movement and if you do need a [Polar Kraken](Age/Polar+Kraken#paper) for some reason, give it a few more days for prices to drop. There doesn't seem to be much demand for the Ice Age rare at all. Finally in Pioneer, [Demilich](in+the+Forgotten+Realms/Demilich#paper) is on the rise, increasing $42 on the week to $1.50. Last week a build of Izzet Pheonix playing a playset of the Adventures in the Forgotten Realm mythic won a big Pioneer regional qualifier which is what's driving the price increase. Considering the card is still just $1.50 and is a one-print mythic, it could be worth snagging some copies. If [Demilich](in+the+Forgotten+Realms/Demilich#paper) becomes widely adopted in Pioneer Phoenix, it could easily end up being worth a few dollars. There's little downside to grabbing yours now when prices are cheap. It has nowhere to go but up. --------------------------------------------------------------- Podcast 437: Smeagol + Crabs = the Answer to Modern --------------------------------------------------------------- The crew discusses Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth, the current state of Pioneer and answers #MTGFishmail.[Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Single Scoop: Artifact Midrange in Standard?! --------------------------------------------------------------- Karn, Reforged Legacy and Karn, Living Legacy are packing this deck with artifacts and hoping we can dodge all the Go For the Throats and get some big mana for big spells![Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Commander Clash Podcast 099: We Design Secret Lair Cards --------------------------------------------------------------- It's time flex our designer muscles, this time creating Universes Beyond Secret Lair cards![Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- This Week in Legacy: So Many Battles, So Little Time! --------------------------------------------------------------- Joe Dyer plays around with the zaniest Battle of Wits build yet![Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Single Scoop: Demonic Alteration is the New Hotness --------------------------------------------------------------- Archfiend of the Dross is popping up in Pioneer so naturally, we're going to try it in Explorer![Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- I Make 200 Mana and Draw My Deck on Turn 4...in Standard! --------------------------------------------------------------- Tap.
