The biggest winner this week was a Streets of New Capenna Commander card, [Lethal Scheme](of+New+Capenna+Commander/Lethal+Scheme#paper). The convoke, connive removal spell jumped from $3 to around $12, based mostly on a Reddit post about how it could be a good speculation target. While [Lethal Scheme](of+New+Capenna+Commander/Lethal+Scheme#paper) probably is underrated, it's also in the same commander precon as [Smuggler's Share](of+New+Capenna+Commander/Smugglers+Share#paper) - the most hyped and expensive card from Streets of New Capenna Commander - which may limit its upside, at least while the deck is in print. If you need a copy, the best plan is probably to pick up the Obscura Operation (aka the Esper [Kamiz, Obscura Oculus](of+New+Capenna+Commander/Kamiz+Obscura+Oculus#paper)) precon itself. You can get it on Amazon for $50 (and perhaps even less from your local game store) and you'll not only get a $12 [Lethal Scheme](of+New+Capenna+Commander/Lethal+Scheme#paper), but a $35 [Smuggler's Share](of+New+Capenna+Commander/Smugglers+Share#paper), and a $6 [Currency Converter](of+New+Capenna+Commander/Currency+Converter#paper), along with a bunch of $2-$3 cards. Meanwhile, [Cryptolith Rite](over+Innistrad/Cryptolith+Rite#paper) is on the rise thanks to [Raggadragga, Goreguts Boss](Legends+Battle+for+Baldurs+Gate/Raggadragga+Goreguts+Boss#paper), with the enchantment jumping 20% on the week to nearly $17. There's only so many ways to turn all of your creatures into mana dorks, and [Cryptolith Rite](over+Innistrad/Cryptolith+Rite#paper)s is one of the most efficient. As a result, it seems likely to be a new staple in Raggadragga decks. However, part of the reason that the enchantment is nearing $20 is that it has never been reprinted, and considering how many products we get these days (and how many of those products are focused on Commander), this could happen at any time. While [Cryptolith Rite](over+Innistrad/Cryptolith+Rite#paper) does show up in a handful of other Commander decks ([Emmara, Soul of the Accord](of+Ravnica/Emmara+Soul+of+the+Accord#paper) and [Rhys the Redeemed](Booster/Rhys+the+Redeemed#paper), for example) it's not really a generic staple that every Commander player wants in their collection. As a result, when the reprint does come, expect the price to drop a lot. If you need a copy to complete [Raggadragga, Goreguts Boss](Legends+Battle+for+Baldurs+Gate/Raggadragga+Goreguts+Boss#paper) you'll have to pay a premium, otherwise wait until it gets reprinted and snag your copies on the cheap for when the next mana dork loving legend is printed. Speaking of much needed reprints, [Doubling Season](City+of+Guilds/Doubling+Season#paper) (which synergizies with essentially everything in Commander) is once again pushing $100. As a likely Double Masters 2022 reprint, [Doubling Season](City+of+Guilds/Doubling+Season#paper) offers a good excuse to discuss how Masters set reprints impact the market. [Doubling Season](City+of+Guilds/Doubling+Season#paper) was reprinted in the first Double Masters two years ago, dropping from a high of $73 pre-reprint to a low of $43 in December of 2021. By April of 2021, [Doubling Season](City+of+Guilds/Doubling+Season#paper) was over $93, and while it has bounced around a bit since, it's at basically the same price today. Expect the same thing to happen to chase reprints (especially Commander-focused reprints) in Double Masters 2022. Prices will drop and drop by a lot, but this decrease will be temporary. What a Masters set does is essentially put staples on sale for around half price starting a few months after the set drops and often lasting for less than a year total. As such, the best way to take advantage of Double Masters 2022 isn't to buy boxes, but to wait a couple of months after the set releases to buy the singles while they are discounted.
