[MTGGoldfish][Magic Newsletter] [width="1"] --------------------------------------------------------------- Much Abrew: Ultra-Boomer Blood Moon Jund (Modern) --------------------------------------------------------------- Is Modern fixed now that Lurrus of the Dream-Den is banned? Let's play the boomeriest, Blood Moon-iest Jund deck ever in a Modern league and find out![Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Budget Magic: Light-Paws Mono-White Auras (Modern) --------------------------------------------------------------- 2BLight-Paws-24713b0b-d239-47f9-a71d-bdf9a2ccef4f%2Ejpg Can Light-Paws, Emperor's Voice power a mono-white auras deck in Modern that's free to play on Magic Online and just $86 in paper? Let's find out![Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive --------------------------------------------------------------- [March of Otherworldly Light](Neon+Dynasty/March+of+Otherworldly+Light#paper) [Seasoned Pyromancer](Horizons/Seasoned+Pyromancer#paper) [Combat Celebrant](Celebrant#paper) This week in the world of Magic finance, one of the biggest gainers was [March of Otherworldly Light](Neon+Dynasty/March+of+Otherworldly+Light#paper) which increased a massive 140% to $7. During spoiler season there were some questions about whether the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty rare would be able to break into Modern due to the presence of [Prismatic Ending](Horizons+2/Prismatic+Ending#paper) in the format, but early results suggests that [March of Otherworldly Light](Neon+Dynasty/March+of+Otherworldly+Light#paper) is more than good enough for the format with it showing up alongside [Prismatic Ending](Horizons+2/Prismatic+Ending#paper) in many builds (especially decks with [Yorion, Sky Nomad](Lair+of+Behemoths/Yorion+Sky+Nomad#paper) as a companion, which are on the rise thanks to the [Lurrus of the Dream-Den](Lair+of+Behemoths/Lurrus+of+the+Dream-Den#paper) banning) and even in place of [Prismatic Ending](Horizons+2/Prismatic+Ending#paper) in some decks. Combined with immediately becoming the premiere white removal in Pioneer and seeing a bit of Standard play, it's not a surprise that [March of Otherworldly Light](Neon+Dynasty/March+of+Otherworldly+Light#paper) is on the rise. This said, when you consider that the only Standard-legal rare worth more than $10 is [Boseiju, Who Endures](Neon+Dynasty/Boseiju+Who+Endures#paper), it's hard to imagine [March of Otherworldly Light](Neon+Dynasty/March+of+Otherworldly+Light#paper) climbing too much more in the near future. It's likely near its short-term ceiling already. Speaking of Modern, the big news of the week was the banning of [Lurrus of the Dream-Den](Lair+of+Behemoths/Lurrus+of+the+Dream-Den#paper) which had a big impact on card prices with the biggest winners being powerful three-drops that were mostly pushed out of the format thanks to Lurrus. Leading the way was [Seasoned Pyromancer](Horizons/Seasoned+Pyromancer#paper), which increased 54% to $50 with [Liliana of the Veil](em>Innistrad/Liliana+of+the+Veil#paper) and [Ranger-Captain of Eos](Horizons/Ranger-Captain+of+Eos#paper) close behind, each shooting up 16% and 42% respectively. Expect more price movement in the future as the new post-Lurrus metagame shakes out. In a very real sense, banning [Lurrus of the Dream-Den](Lair+of+Behemoths/Lurrus+of+the+Dream-Den#paper) also "unbanned" a bunch of powerful cards. As some of these cards rise to the top of the meta, expect prices to follow. The new legends from Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty are still having an impact on card prices with random enchantress cards (like [Starfield of Nyx](Origins/Starfield+of+Nyx#paper) and [Setessan Champion (planeswalker stamp)](em>Theros+Beyond+Death+Promos:Foil/Setessan+Champion-planeswalker+stamp#paper)) ticking up alongside attacking trigger cards for [Isshin, Two Heavens as One](Neon+Dynasty/Isshin+Two+Heavens+as+One#paper) decks. While [Aurelia, the Warleader](em>Gatecrash/Aurelia+the+Warleader#paper) increasing 18% to just under $30 makes sense - it's one of the best attack triggers in Magic - seeing [Combat Celebrant](em>Amonkhet/Combat+Celebrant#paper) creep up 8% is a bit strange because its exert ability isn't technically an attack trigger (even though it happens when a creature attacks), which means it isn't doubled by [Isshin, Two Heavens as One](Neon+Dynasty/Isshin+Two+Heavens+as+One#paper). While perhaps there is another, non-Isshin reason for the [Combat Celebrant](em>Amonkhet/Combat+Celebrant#paper) price increase that I'm missing, it does offer a good lesson to make sure to double check that the cards you are buying actually do what you want them to do. While you'll always be able to sell or trade away your mistakes, you'll lose some value in the process. --------------------------------------------------------------- Banned and Restricted Update, March 7, 2022: Lurrus Banned! --------------------------------------------------------------- Lurrus is banned in Modern and Pioneer![Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- CEDH! Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
