[Worldfire](2013/Worldfire#paper)
[Innkeeper's Talent](Talent#paper) This week in the world of Magic finance, the biggest gainer was [Psychic Possession](Possession#paper). The Dissension rare is up from under $3 a couple of weeks ago to nearly $17 today thanks to [Ms. Bumbleflower (borderless)](Commander:Foil/Ms+Bumbleflower-borderless#paper). The idea is to turn the Bant commanders ability that draws an opponent a card whenever you cast a spell into an upside by letting you draw a card too. Combine this with the fact that [Psychic Possession](Possession#paper) has never been reprinted and the stage is set for the big price spike. At this point I think it might just be worth buying any weird bulk rare that has never seen a reprint. Sooner or later it will probably be a staple in some strange Commander deck and its price will shoot up. Worst case it ends up being reprinted and your bulk rare remains bulk, costing you nothing but some shipping and opportunity cost. In scarier Commander news, [Worldfire](2013/Worldfire#paper) doubled up in price this week to $32. The infamous sorcery was banned in Commander for most of its existence before coming off the ban list randomly a few years ago. As far as I can tell, [The Infamous Cruelclaw (showcase)](Infamous+Cruelclaw-showcase#paper) is the reason for the spike, with the idea being you can spin into [Worldfire](2013/Worldfire#paper) for free with [The Infamous Cruelclaw (showcase)](Infamous+Cruelclaw-showcase#paper)'s ability, although this doesn't actually win you the game. Instead it will just hard-wipe the board including lands and put everyone down to one life, making it a race to get in the last damage to close out the game. Personally I wouldn't spend $32 on a [Worldfire](2013/Worldfire#paper) for Cruelclaw. I imagine that you'll hit it once and your playgroup will make you remove it from your deck, but if you can get away with playing mass land destruction, it is a funny, chaotic play I guess. Finally in Standard we have a sleeper from Bloomburrow in [Innkeeper's Talent](Talent#paper). The card tripled up this week to $8 and after playing with it a bunch I think it might be one of the best Standard cards in the set. The first two levels are fine in almost any creature deck, similar to [Ranger Class](in+the+Forgotten+Realms/Ranger+Class#paper) from a few years ago, but the last level is the card's true power. Once you fully level up [Innkeeper's Talent](Talent#paper) you can instantly ultimate planeswalkers like [Liliana of the Veil](United/Liliana+of+the+Veil#paper) to wrath away half of your opponent's permanents or - even better - [Vraska, Betrayal's Sting](Will+Be+One/Vraska+Betrayals+Sting#paper) to win the game by giving your opponent 18 poison counters. My guess is the card will be a Standard staple and it also has a ton of Commander potential. Thankfully it's only a rare, but I expect this card will continue to creep up in price thanks to the combo of competitive and casual play. --------------------------------------------------------------- Podcast 495: Bloomburrow First Impressions
