[MTGGoldfish][Magic Newsletter] [width="1"] --------------------------------------------------------------- Outlaws of Thunder Junction Previews --------------------------------------------------------------- Horizons+3/Nethergoyf#paper Horizons+3/Flare+of+Denial#paper Horizons+3/Urzas+Cave#paper Horizons+3/Null+Elemental+Blast#paper Horizons+3/Wight+of+the+Reliquary#paper Horizons+3/Ugins+Labyrinth#paper Modern Horizons 3 leaks have been streaming, and Wizards decided to go ahead and officially preview some of the cards. You can check out all the confirmed cards at www.mtgpreviews.com. - [Modern Horizons 3 Spoilers — April 30 | Surprise Modern Horizons Cards!]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive --------------------------------------------------------------- [Eon Hub](Dawn/Eon+Hub#paper) [Three Steps Ahead](of+Thunder+Junction/Three+Steps+Ahead#paper) [Valki, God of Lies](God+of+Lies#paper) This week in the world of Magic finance, the biggest gainer was [Eon Hub](Dawn/Eon+Hub#paper), with the upkeep skipping artifact increasing more than 1100% to nearly $17. As far as I can tell, this seems to be a buyout, with essentially all the copies on TCGplayer being purchased a couple of days ago. Exactly why this happened I have no idea. As far as I can tell there haven't been any new cards printed that care about skipping your upkeep. I guess it's possible that people are buying copies to hose their friend's [Obeka, Splitter of Seconds](of+Thunder+Junction/Obeka+Splitter+of+Seconds#paper) Commander decks, although this seems like a long shot. With all the leaks over the past couple of weeks, it will be interesting to see if something shows up in Modern Horizons 3 that combos with [Eon Hub](Dawn/Eon+Hub#paper). Maybe someone is making a finance play based on a leak that hasn't become public yet? For now I'd look to move my copies into the hype and take advantage of the huge price increase. Meanwhile in Standard, [Three Steps Ahead (planeswalker stamp)](of+Thunder+Junction/Three+Steps+Ahead-planeswalker+stamp#paper) increased 150% to $8. When the counter was first previewed in Outlaws of Thunder Junction, I couldn't understand why it wasn't getting more hype considering it looks a lot like Modern staple [Archmage's Charm (showcase)](News/Archmages+Charm-showcase#paper) or even [Cryptic Command](Masters/Cryptic+Command#paper). Well it turns out people have realized the power of the card and it's now not just showing up in Standard control decks, but also some builds of Pioneer Izzet Phoenix and some Modern control builds. It's hard for me to see [Three Steps Ahead (planeswalker stamp)](of+Thunder+Junction/Three+Steps+Ahead-planeswalker+stamp#paper) going too much higher - usually non-land Standard rares max out at around $12 - unless it starts seeing more Commander play. At this point it's a card I don't mind holding onto. It should be strong in Standard for as long as it's legal and may have some untapped potential in other formats. Last but not least, [Valki, God of Lies](List/Valki+God+of+Lies#paper) continues to climb. Before Outlaws of Thunder Junction it was around $5. Today it's up to $15 after gaining another 23% on the week. While we haven't seen the combo of [Jace Reawakened](of+Thunder+Junction/Jace+Reawakened#paper) and Valki really take off in Modern, it is having a bigger impact on Pioneer where several different control builds are using the plan of plotting Valki with Jace to cast [Tibalt, Cosmic Impostor](Cosmic+Impostor#paper) the next turn. As a one-print mythic the sky is the limit for [Valki, God of Lies](List/Valki+God+of+Lies#paper) if one of these decks becomes a new top tier option, but at this point it's really too early to tell.
