Check out all the spicy new Legendaries, including a new two-mana Jace planeswalker card at www.mtgpreviews.com: - [Outlaws of Thunder Junction Spoilers — March 26 | 2-Mana Jace and Five New Mechanics!]( - [Outlaws of Thunder Junction Spoilers — March 27 | Marchesa and Riku Meet at High Noon]( - [Outlaws of Thunder Junction Spoilers — March 28 | Geralf, Pushed 2-drops and Terror of the Peaks Returns!]( - [Outlaws of Thunder Junction Spoilers — March 29 | Bandits, Bob and Brushwaggs!]( - [Outlaws of Thunder Junction Spoilers — March 30 | Dragons, Extra Upkeep and Theft]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive --------------------------------------------------------------- [Cateran Summons](Masques/Cateran+Summons#paper) [Heat Shimmer](Shimmer#paper) [Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord](Set+2020/Sorin+Imperious+Bloodlord#paper) This week in the world of Magic finance is all about Outlaws of Thunder Junction. The biggest gainer by% was [Cateran Summons](Masques/Cateran+Summons#paper) with the sorcery gaining more than 800% from under $1 to over $7. I've been pulling this card out of collections for years. A one-mana tutor is incredibly strong. The problem is you can only tutor up a Mercenary, a creature type that hasn't really been heavily supported since the 90s, but now thanks to Outlaws of Thunder Junction (and also Fallout), Mercenaries are back, including multiple new legends in [Rakdos, the Muscle](of+Thunder+Junction:Foil/Rakdos+the+Muscle#paper) and [Vial Smasher, Gleeful Grenadier](of+Thunder+Junction/Vial+Smasher+Gleeful+Grenadier#paper). Personally I'll be snap selling all the copies I've saved up into the hype. I expect this is the peak for [Cateran Summons](Masques/Cateran+Summons#paper) and if Mercenaries ever get full support (like a Commander precon), odds of [Cateran Summons](Masques/Cateran+Summons#paper) being reprinted seems high. Now is the perfect time to cash out for maximum value. Speaking of Commander, [Heat Shimmer](Masters/Heat+Shimmer#paper) jumped 51% this week to over $16 thanks to [Ghired, Mirror of the Wilds](of+Thunder+Junction:Foil/Ghired+Mirror+of+the+Wilds#paper). The new Naya legend can easily go infinite with cards like [Village Bell-Ringer](Lord+of+the+Rings+Tales+of+Middle+Earth+Commander/Village+Bell-Ringer#paper) or [Battered Golem](Dawn/Battered+Golem#paper), but it needs to have a token enter the battlefield during the turn to copy. [Heat Shimmer](Masters/Heat+Shimmer#paper) is the perfect way to do this since the token has haste, allowing the deck to not just make infinite copies of the token, but win right away with them by attacking [Splinter Twin](Masters+2015/Splinter+Twin#paper) style. Keep an eye on other cards that can make token copies of creatures in the coming weeks. I wouldn't be surprised to see more of them spike as players build around the new Ghired. Finally, [Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord](Set+2020/Sorin+Imperious+Bloodlord#paper) is still increasing thanks to Vampires in Pioneer, gaining another 41% this week to a massive $64. If you need Sorin, you'll save a bunch of money by looking for the Secret Lair printing, which is still readily available on sites like TCGplayer for around $35 - nearly half the price of the Core Set 2020 version. If you aren't playing with your copies, I'd look to sell them now while prices are high. It wasn't that long ago that [Liliana of the Veil (borderless)](United:Foil/Liliana+of+the+Veil-borderless#paper) was a $100 card. Thanks to metagame shifts and reprintings, it's now $13. Sooner or later this will happen with [Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord](Set+2020/Sorin+Imperious+Bloodlord#paper), which makes holding extra copies risky. --------------------------------------------------------------- I Bought 20 Pounds of Magic Cards and All I Got Was Free Chips or Cookies --------------------------------------------------------------- And I don't even know how to get the free chips or cookies...[Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Podcast 477: Do You Know Magic Slang? --------------------------------------------------------------- The crew discusses Maro's Outlaws of Thunder Junction teaser, some organized play news and Seth quizzes Richard and Crim on Magic slang t...[Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Commander Clash Podcast 140: Weird Old Cards --------------------------------------------------------------- Let's talk about weird old cards that we've played recently![Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Single Scoop: Juggle the Performance is Pure Nonsense --------------------------------------------------------------- We loaded up our deck with useless cards in Timeless so we can steal our opponent's good cards with Juggle the Performance![Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- This Week in Legacy: The March 2024 Legacy Metagame Check-In --------------------------------------------------------------- Joe Dyer dives into the current state of Legacy in March 2024![Read more]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Against the Odds: I Explode Yargle's Corpse on an Ill-Tempered Loner --------------------------------------------------------------- What are the odds of winning by exploding Yargle and Multani's corpse on an Ill-Tempered Loner? Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
