The FDIC plans to impose a 0.125% levy on lenders with uninsured deposits over $5 billion, placing the burden on large US lenders. The top 14 banks are expected to pay approximately $5.8 billion each year for two years, starting in 2024. First Solar, Inc. (Nasdaq: FSLR) First Solar is up 4.15% premarket after First Solar has acquired Evolar AB, a European leader in perovskite technology, for approximately $38 million paid at closing and up to an additional $42 million subject to achieving certain technical milestones in the future. The acquisition is expected to strengthen First Solar's global leadership in thin film photovoltaics and accelerate the development of next-generation PV technology. The impact on operating expenses for 2023 is estimated to be around $2-4 million, excluding the impact of purchase price accounting.
