Hi {NAME} Welcome to Friday Flywheel, my email to get your MSP's marketing wheel turning and then make it go faster and faster and faster... Paul's musings: Create profiles on your MSP's competitors Normally I advise to ignore your competitors and their marketing. Unless you have a full-time marketing resource, you're much better off focusing the small amount of time you have for marketing actually on your own marketing. However, there is one small thing you should do which will give you a competitive sales edge over all the other MSPs in your area: You should create a small private profile on each of them. The key things to figure out are: - What they do that you don't - What you do that they don't This may be capabilities, areas of expertise, preferred technical implemention, anything really, which differentiates you. And I'm not talking about marketing differentiation which is about influencing how other people feel. I'm talking about the actual differentiations in your service and approach. You gather this information through their website, from talking to prospects and even from having a coffee with their former staff (which you should always do if only because it can be a great way to find new technicians). The idea is to give you the knowledge of what their strengths and weaknesses are. So when you and a competitor are chasing the same prospect, you know where to focus your prospect's attention. You downplay the areas where they are strong, and use their weaknesses against them. Examples: "We stopped using XYZ solution years ago as it's considered old hat now" "If you're talking to anyone else, ask them how they handle XYZ. It's really important which is why we invest a lot of time and energy into it" Do you have profiles like this already set up? Or is this something you think you should do? Hit reply and let me know… last week 12 MSPs replied to this email to chat with me. It's the real me at the other end and I reply to every email I get. From the web: Toggles could make your home page easier to consume First time I've come across this concept, and I love it. Your website should be focused mostly on benefits not features. But you do need to mention some of the features… [and this could be an easy way for you to do that without overwhelming ordinary decision makers with tech talk]( From my archive: You can’t trust someone you don’t like… and you can’t like someone you don’t know People buy from people. And one of the goals of your MSP's marketing is to [build a relationship of trust with your leads and prospects]( If marketing is the one area of your MSP you're not happy with, give us 15 mins to open your eyes There are 4 big marketing problems which stop all MSPs from generating leads. You can blast them away with my simple but powerful 3 step system that gets you new appointments. My colleague Ben Smith will show you the system we've built inside the MSP Marketing Edge, and how it's the answer to all your marketing problems. No obligation to buy anything, ever. It's a friendly tour not a sales pitch. [Here's his live calendar]( Hit reply with any questions - and have a great weekend.
