Hi {NAME} Welcome to Friday Flywheel, my email to get your MSP's marketing wheel turning and then make it go faster and faster and faster... Paul's musing: In marketing, timing is EVERYTHING My daughter is evil. She waits outside the door of my home studio/office listening to me recording a video or appearing on a webinar. And then makes fun of the sayings she hears me repeating every day. Such as "you have to get the right message, in front of the right person, at the right time". (she's actually smart enough to throw that back at me... "well Green," she says (I miss the days of being called Daddy), "I know my bedroom is a mess but I'm the wrong person to tidy it and it's definitely not the right time for a tidy up.") Genius. But child aside, it's a very very very good piece of advice. And especially when you are selling managed services. There's nothing you can do to force someone to switch MSPs until the day they are ready. The time between today and whenever that day will be, must be spent building a relationship with your prospect so that you feel like a safe choice to them. It's why smart MSP marketers maintain a database (usually in their CRM) of everyone they've spoken to and when their contract is due for renewal. A few months before they give them a call and ask whether they're renewing or looking around. Might be nothing this year... or next... or the year after... but then one day you call and the prospect says "I'm so glad you called, I've had enough of my current IT people". That's the right person at the right time. All the years of work you put in building a relationship with this person just suddenly paid off. Do you have a prosect database like this? When it tells you to call someone, do you? You're not one of those MSPs who ignores sales opportunities that are right in front of them... are you? Hit reply and tell me (it's the real me at the other end and I reply to every email). From the web: Is LinkedIn posting getting too personal? This made me laugh: A story of how a guy got roasted for turning his marriage proposal into a LinkedIn post about B2B sales. [The key is to be authentic on LinkedIn and not overshare:]( From my archive: Every MSP needs a strategic referral deal with a web agency Here's an amazing opportunity to get almost unlimited referrals for your MSP.
