At this moment, former President Donald Trump is not helping the GOP as we head into the midterm elections. [View in browser]( [Image]( September 2, 2022 THE LATEST [Alternate text] A 'frothing rage' against Trump is accomplishing what Biden can't]( by Noah Rothman President Joe Biden stated in his Thursday "soul of the nation" speech that "MAGA Republicans," those who are loyal to Donald Trump, "do not recognize the will of the people." That may be true, but the former president certainly appears to influence the will of the people — whether it falls in his favor or against it. At this moment, Trump is not helping the GOP as we head into the midterm elections. [Noah Rothman looks at]( the recent loss of Trump-loyalist Sarah Palin in Alaska as an example of someone who "tethered herself to the former president," to her detriment, as well as backlash Trump supporters have incurred following the FBI Mar-a-Lago search. According to Rothman, the fact that Democrats are coming out on top pre-midterms is not due to their accomplishments, but to the "frothing rage" Trump and his MAGA Republicans have incited from their opponents. And "frothing rage is what moves voters to engage in the political process." writes Rothman, whereas "humiliating spectacles like those Biden presided over for the first 18 months of his presidency do not." For many, gone are the days of dressing up, commuting to an office, and working in-person five days a week. But with the broad availability of vaccines and boosters, as well as relaxed Covid guidelines, employers are increasingly encouraging employees to return to the office. Yet, not everyone wants to go back to the way things were. Eighty-seven percent of workers who have the chance to work flexibly take it, according to the American Opportunity Survey, conducted by McKinsey. Anne Helen Petersen is the author of four books including "Out of Office: The Big Problem and Bigger Promise of Working from Home," which she co-wrote with Charlie Warzel. Petersen joins [WITHpod]( to discuss why the future isn't just about where we will work, but how. She also discusses the history of working from home, people returning to "ghost offices," why reverting to pre-pandemic workplace norms could be problematic and more.     [Image] [Image]   [Privacy]( [Unsubscribe](listvar=sub_daily)
