[View in browser]( [Image]( November 22, 2021 THE LATEST [Alternate text] have a Kevin McCarthy problem on their hands by Noah Rothman In the wake of Kevin McCarthy's now infamous hours-long speech on the House floor that wrapped in the wee morning hours on Friday, the House minority leader has gotten a lot of flack. "Because the party in power has turned in such a lousy performance over the last year, Republicans don't have to be anything more than against Democratic governance,” [Noah Rothman writes](. But, he adds, "it will not last." Rothman points out that although the GOP could have had an easy run of it, members like McCarthy are fumbling the play. "McCarthy's style of leadership as minority leader has been to either ignore or defend his conference's most embarrassing members and to play to the party's pro-Trump base," he writes. And ultimately, "These are inauspicious signs for a party poised to hand him the speaker's gavel." Read Noah Rothman's [full analysis]( and more your Monday [MSNBC Daily](.
