"I was not happy with it," he said of the chant, blaming it on the crowd. "I disagree with it." [View in browser]( [Image]( JULY 18, 2019 On Wednesday, a fired-up crowd shouted its approval of President Donald Trump’s attacks on Somali-born Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and three of her colleagues Wednesday by chanting “Send her back!” President Trump, emboldened by the House’s sound rejection of an effort to impeach him over racist commentary about the lawmakers just hours earlier, prompted the chant at his re-election rally in Greenville, North Carolina, by resuming his [rhetorical assault]( on Omar and Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass. "I was not happy with it," he said of the chant, blaming it on the crowd. "I disagree with it." As [Jonathan Allen on NBCNews.com:](ttps://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/send-her-back-chant-blew-cover-trump-s-conflation-race-n1031346) "Racial resentment isn't just a part of President Donald Trump's re-election strategy for 2020. It's the heart of that strategy, and, until this week it was partially obscured by the protective cover of the American flag." But Rep. Omar was greeted with a different kind of chant when she arrived home in Minnesota Thursday night: [cheers from her constituents.]( [Image]( Democrats on the House committees set to hear testimony next week from former special counsel Robert Mueller believe the hearings will help Americans understand "the gravity of the president's misconduct," staff members told reporters. "It is not that that there will be a big, dramatic, new revelation necessarily, we're not expecting that," a Judiciary Committee Democratic staffer said Thursday in a briefing ahead of the hearings. "What's important is there is truly shocking evidence of criminal misconduct by the president — not once but again and again and again — that would result in any other American being criminally charged in a multiple count indictment." [Read more from NBC News' Alex Moe.]( On [All In last night](, Rep. Jerry Nadler was optimistic about the Mueller testimony Wednesday. He responded to Chris Hayes' question about increasing perceptions that the oversight and investigations were going too slowly. "We will show [the President] instance after instance lying to the American people or instructing others to," Nadler said. "We're going into court, it's frustrating how slow... we're going to court shortly on getting grand jury material and enforcing the McGhann subpeona. When we break that, we will break the log jam," he said of White House Counsel Don McGhan's argument against complying with a subpoena. But he needs to stop trying to go it alone. Rather than being aimed at the “treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors” that the Constitution defines as impeachable offenses, Green suggested that Trump’s racists statements, among other things, constituted a reason to impeach him. By [Molly Jong-Fast](. [OPINION.]( Jeffrey Epstein's bail request was not the norm. Locking up people because they can't afford bail is. It’s hard to imagine a more toxic combination of privilege and criminality. But the scorn reached new levels with Epstein’s request for bail using his mansion and jet as collateral and his offer to stay in home detention in his enormous Manhattan mansion.
