President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin [spoke Friday and both agreed "there was no collusion"]( between Moscow and Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, [White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said](. The conversation was by telephone, and lasted over an hour.
While speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, President Trump was [asked repeatedly](, including by NBC's Kristen Welker, whether he raised the issue of election interference or warned the Russian president against interfering in future U.S. elections.
Â
âWe didnât discuss that,â Trump said eventually. Â
Â
Sanders said the Mueller report was discussed âvery, very briefly.â

â[Putin] actually [sort of smiled]( when he said something to the effect that it started off as a mountain and it ended up being a mouse,â [said Trump]( of how Putin described the Russia probe. (The conversation was not over video conference.)Â
At the same press conference, Trump said [he wouldn't prevent former special counsel Robert Mueller from testifying before Congress](, telling reporters he would leave that decision up to Attorney General William Barr.
Â
"That's up to our attorney general, who I think has done a fantastic job," the president said.Â
Â
Barr said earlier this week that he wouldn't prevent Mueller from testifying.
Â
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler [sent a final counteroffer Friday]( to AG Barr to obtain the full version of the special counsel's report, along with an ultimatum: If the Justice Department doesnât comply, the panel will initiate contempt proceedings.
Â
Nadler, who issued a subpoena for special counsel Robert Mueller's unredacted report and the underlying evidence on April 19, gave the Department of Justice a new deadline of 9 a.m. ET Monday to respond. Nadler's original deadline for the department to comply with the subpoena was Wednesday.
Â
The DOJ declined to comment.
