Jeff Merkley of Oregon and Hillary Clinton all announced that they would not run for president in 2020. "It’s essential that we nominate a Democrat who will be in the strongest position to defeat Donald Trump and bring our country back together," [Bloomberg said](. He said that while he believed he could beat Trump in the general election, he doubted he would make it through the primary process.
