[The president claimed vindication]( while speaking to reporters on the South Lawn of the White House, saying the "judge said there was no collusion," and that he feels "very badly" for Manafort. But that's not what the judge overseeing the case actually said. Before announcing Manafort's sentence Thursday, Judge T.S. Ellis reminded the court that the longtime political operative's crimes were not related to special counsel Robert Mueller’s chief mandate. The president later tweeted, "Bad lawyer and fraudster Michael Cohen said under sworn testimony that he never asked for a Pardon." "His lawyers totally contradicted him. He lied! Additionally, he directly asked me for a pardon. I said NO. He lied again! He also badly wanted to work at the White House. He lied!" A judge ruled the [Trump administration responsible for "potentially thousands" more separated children](, even before it instituted a "zero tolerance" policy. The ruling Friday followed a government report that found that "potentially thousands" of children were separated from their parents between June 2017 and May 2018.
