The version of Santos elected by voters is a complete fiction. Santos built his campaign on a series of outrageous and offensive lies, deceiving the voters of New York's 3rd District about his qualifications, work background, and who he really is. His continued presence in the House is a disservice and disrespect to the people of Long Island and Queens—and the entire nation. Santos cannot possibly represent the people of his district with the truth of his deception out there. [It's time for Santos to end the charade and step aside. His constituents deserve a representative they can trust.]( Santos's litany of lies is too long to recount: false claims that he is the descendant of Holocaust survivors, fabrications about his education and past employment, glaring gaps in his financial disclosures, and more.1 His excessive campaign spending and the unknown sources of his wealth have also raised flags. George Santos has grossly lied his way into office. He must respect the people of his district and resign now or be removed. [Sign the petition]( His constituents and New York lawmakers—even some fellow Republicans—have called for him to resign.2 Prosecutors are investigating whether his lies crossed the line into criminal activity—his official filings to run for office seem to include fraudulent claims.3 Yet Santos continues to dig himself deeper into a hole, while lashing out and avoiding accountability. Instead of coming clean or focusing on his constituents, he'll now be tied up in investigations by local, state, federal, and international authorities because of the long trail of deception and fraud that's just beginning to be uncovered, and his ability to meaningfully represent his constituents in Washington will be zero—imagine him speaking in any committee hearing! [Sign the petition to demand that George Santos step down from Congress for his lies about his qualifications.]( Our elected officials must at the very least be held to the same, if not a higher, standard as the rest of us. Otherwise we reinforce a system where the rules we all follow don't apply to people with political power.
