I spend most of my time conducting experiments and analyzing data, but I'm taking a break from that work to email you, because I have something very important to say. The 2022 midterm elections are expected to be razor-close, with just a tiny number of votes in a very small handful of battleground states likely deciding the future of our nation. That's why my colleagues and I spent months and months building and fine-tuning custom predictive models to identify the precise voters in the key states we'll need to turn out to win. And then, we conducted unique and innovative scientific experiments to figure out the right messages and methods to communicate with these critical voters and motivate them to vote. For example, we found that young voters get most of their news online, and so our team has put together highly targeted digital ads to reach voters through apps, websites, and social media. But many older voters are still best reached through the good old U.S. Postal Service, so our team is using snail mail with unique messages that appeal to seniors. We have concluded most of our experiments, and we have determined the precise modes and messages that reach the specific voters we need. Now, with only two weeks left until Election Day, we need to broadcast these messages as heavily as possible to turn out the precise voters we'll need to win this election. [So, I have an important question: Will you chip in $3 today to deploy our evidence-based ads and ensure they reach the critical voters we need to win?]( {NAME}, the truth is, I have an incredibly unique job. Most scientists don't get the opportunity to apply their doctoral-level training to making real-world grassroots political change. And most political groups don't have the resources to conduct sophisticated and complex political research. But thanks to the generosity of MoveOn members like you, MoveOn has the resources to hire a team of full-time data scientists and analytics experts. Your generosity has helped create one of the most cutting-edge, innovative political research laboratories in America. Our team members have advanced degrees in the field and dozens of years of technical experience building sophisticated predictive models. And every single day, we work to apply that expertise to do good in the world. This year, our big task was to find a unique way for MoveOn to help win the midterm elections. So we built predictive models using techniques rarely applied in the political space that tell us which specific messages resonate most with specific voters. And that allows our colleagues to create highly targeted, evidence-based ads that significantly increase the likelihood that key voters in critical states will cast their ballots for Democrats. We have the data, tools, and messages we need to win. Now, with less than two weeks until Election Day, we need to make sure our target voters see and hear these messages as much as possible. And that's where you come in. [Will you chip in $3 to ensure our evidence-based, get-out-the-vote ads reach our key voters as many times as possible in these critical final days of the campaign?]( Thanks for all you do. –Allison Kelly, PhD MoveOn Senior Data Scientist P.S. Donald Trump and his MAGA allies are methodically enacting a plan to place some of Trump's most ardent supporters in key election offices that oversee vote counting, have the power to certify—or decertify—election results, and declare election winners and losers. We've launched a powerful, multimillion-dollar campaign to stop Trump. But we need your help to power our effort. Will you chip in to power our campaign to defeat Trump cronies this November and elect officials who will count each and every vote?
