Help spread the word! Dear MoveOn member, On Friday, House Democrats passed the Inflation Reduction

Help spread the word! Dear MoveOn member, On Friday, House Democrats passed the Inflation Reduction Act without a single Republican vote. This is huge! The Inflation Reduction Act … • lowers prescription drug prices, • caps out-of-pocket health care costs for seniors, • lowers health insurance costs for 13 million Americans under the Affordable Care Act, • makes the largest investment in clean energy ever in history, • creates millions of clean-energy jobs, • reduces deficit spending and lowers costs for Americans, and • makes large corporations pay more of their fair share in taxes.1 The Inflation Reduction Act is the reincarnation of President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda. And though we didn’t get all the elements we advocated for, and there's plenty of work ahead, we got a bill that addresses several top concerns of Americans right now: prices rising to unfathomable levels at dangerously fast rates, the overwhelming costs of prescription drugs, and the urgent need to combat the climate crisis. Thank you! The past year-and-a-half hasn’t been easy. In the midst of a global pandemic and rising uncertainty, MoveOn members have taken action and made demands to deliver real, material improvements to the lives of everyday Americans. [You can spread the word about this historic legislation by sharing this graphic online and with your networks.]( MoveOn members have participated in lobby visits, written tens of thousands of letters, made tens of thousands of calls, and confronted senators at their offices, in airports, and on Capitol Hill in support of Democrats' passing a robust bill to address the climate crisis and make a huge investment in the economic future of this country. MoveOn members held job fairs to focus on clean-energy jobs2, joined national actions around our climate crisis, joined livestreams with movement leaders from Rev. William Barber of the Poor People's Campaign to Ai-jen Poo of Caring Across Generations, and called upon Congress to make the ultra-wealthy and major corporations pay their fair share in taxes. And after the Senate passed this bill over the weekend, we immediately released ads in key states to thank the Democratic champs who made this happen—because in November, we need to make sure to reelect the Democrats who pulled together and defeat the Republicans who voted against climate, health care, and jobs. Our work, together, has crossed the country, spanned 18 months, and been visible in the streets, on Capitol Hill, online, over the airwaves, and in every state in the country. And the Inflation Reduction Act is the slam-dunk needed to demonstrate the power of Democratic governance as we approach the midterms, where we’ll work to maintain the Democratic majority in both chambers of Congress—and hold Republicans who’ve doubled down on obstruction, disinformation, division, and dysfunction accountable. [But we can't rely on the media alone to get the message out. It's up to us to let our friends, family, and neighbors know how critical this moment is and the many benefits this legislation will have for Americans for generations to come. Help spread the word on social media and in your community!]( This act will stabilize inflation, create millions of clean-energy jobs, curb our reliance on foreign oil, and reduce health care costs—sustaining our economy and planet. And the best part ... This will all be paid for by making the ultra-wealthy and large corporations pay more of their fair share in taxes. No single bill will solve these challenges alone. But the scale of our challenges must not be allowed to freeze us with inaction. Thanks to Democrats, we are finally taking a giant step in the right direction. We need continued action, and we've got to elect more Democrats in November if we want to speed up our action, as we must. [Share this graphic on your social media accounts to help celebrate this huge victory!]( Please hold your loved ones and community close, take care of one another, and take time to share what we have accomplished in pushing to advance progressive priorities to make America a better place to live. Passing such a transformative set of policies is because of the work of MoveOn members like you and the millions of Americans who demanded Democrats hold the line, finish the job, and deliver for the American people—and that's something to be proud of. We'll continue to work for single-payer health care for all, a Green New Deal, a deep investment in the caring economy, and other important measures of progress. This victory is an important foundation for that future work and a testament to what we can accomplish together. Thanks for all you do. –Rahna, Elsie, Jaira, Justin, and the rest of the team 1.
