On Saturday, May 14, hundreds of thousands of us are taking to the streets at hundreds of events all

On Saturday, May 14, hundreds of thousands of us are taking to the streets at hundreds of events all across the country, in a public, visible display of people power. Dear MoveOn member, The right-wing packed Supreme Court doesn't speak for us and must not be allowed to have the power to regulate our bodies. This weekend, hundreds of thousands of us are taking to the streets at events all across the country, in a public, visible display of people power. [Join a May 14 Bans Off Our Bodies rally near you to demand that our elected officials act to protect and expand abortion rights before any more vital services are cut off.]( Don't see an event near you? [Consider hosting one!]( Our allies at Women's March have tons of experience to share on leading local events, and many organizations will support with recruitment. Or revisit [this map]( throughout the week, as hundreds of events are still taking shape. After the draft Supreme Court decision was leaked showing that our right to access abortions is in grave danger, tens of thousands of folks joined together last Tuesday within 24 hours at hundreds of events across the country to show support for abortion access, for abortion providers, and for those who seek to have an abortion. In those hours—in the streets, online, and over the airwaves—we saw our movement come together loudly and passionately. A movement of people who believe in bodily autonomy. A movement of people who advocate for affordable, quality health care for all. A movement of people trying to create a world where everyone can thrive is ready to resist authoritarianism in all its forms and the vicious attacks from Republican state legislators up to the right-wing justices on the Supreme Court. In less than 24 hours, tens of thousands of people took to the streets to demonstrate our outrage and determination. [Sign up now for May 14 marches because it's time to continue to build on this pressure since our rights and our bodies are on the line.]( [protest photos]( [MoveOn has joined with reproductive rights champions at Planned Parenthood, UltraViolet, and Women's March and hundreds of local, state, and national reproductive justice groups, to hold rallies across the country on Saturday, May 14, to declare we won't go back and demand our elected officials use all their power to protect our rights. RSVP now to an event near you.]( Or consider [hosting one]( if there isn't one planned in your community yet. Criminalizing abortion doesn't stop it from happening; it stops it from happening safely. It also drastically limits who has access to abortion, because not everyone can risk arrest, afford the procedure, or travel to receive care. If the Supreme Court decision becomes final as it stands now, it will be felt the most by those with few resources.1 Right-wing politicians have proven that outlawing abortions is about taking power away from our communities. If it were truly about supporting children, then they'd be the champions of policies including Child Tax Credit, paid maternity leave, and the Children's Health Insurance Program—but instead, they've opposed them all.2, 3, 4 The majority of Americans want the protections provided by Roe v. Wade to stay.5 And together, we will be a powerful force that our elected officials can't ignore. The Senate must abolish the filibuster to codify abortion rights into law, Congress can expand the Supreme Court to rebalance the power after right-wing packing, state officials can consecrate abortion rights and access, and the Biden administration must use all its power to protect access across the country, as it has in Texas. [Grab your rally signs and RSVP to take to the streets on Saturday, May 14, to declare that abortion is health care and must be accessible to all.]( Thanks for all you do. –Chloe, Casey, Stephen, Chrissy, and the rest of the team Sources: 1. Meanwhile, donations to progressive groups like MoveOn are plummeting now that a Democrat is in the White House, meaning we don’t have the resources to fight back. That's a huge problem, and that's why we urgently need your support. Will you chip in to fight right-wing lies and pass urgent legislation to confront the multiple crises our country faces?
