MoveOn is making history by launching an effort to remove Justice Clarence Thomas from the Supreme C

MoveOn is making history by launching an effort to remove Justice Clarence Thomas from the Supreme Court. Dear MoveOn member, MoveOn is making history by launching an effort to remove Justice Clarence Thomas from the Supreme Court. Bombshell reports just revealed that Ginni Thomas, a far-right activist and the wife of Clarence Thomas, repeatedly pressured Donald Trump's White House chief of staff to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.1 When the case to determine if documents from the Trump White House should be released to the congressional commission investigating the January 6 insurrection—including the texts from Ginni Thomas—came before the Supreme Court, Justice Thomas failed to recuse himself and was the only justice in an 8-1 decision to rule that the records should not be released.2 Thomas has abused his power and compromised the legitimacy of the court. And he may very well have concealed these conflicts from his own colleagues, including Chief Justice John Roberts. That's why we're demanding that Thomas resign or be impeached—and we're calling on Chief Justice Roberts to address this attack on the court's legitimacy. To ramp up the pressure, MoveOn is preparing to run hard-hitting TV ads along with a full-page ad in The Wall Street Journal—a publication known to be read by Chief Justice John Roberts—highlighting Thomas's wrongdoing. [But we can do this only if we know that MoveOn members like you will help support the campaign. Will you chip in $3 today to help provide the funds to run television and newspaper ads calling on Chief Justice Roberts to condemn Thomas's actions?]( In the recently uncovered and highly inappropriate text messages, Ginni Thomas tells Trump Chief of Staff Mark Meadows that "Biden and the Left is attempting the greatest Heist of our History."3 She also cites a QAnon-fueled message that suggests that President Biden and his family members should be "arrested & detained" and sent to "barges off GITMO to face military tribunals."4 Thomas urges Trump's closest aide not to concede by saying, "It takes time for the army who is gathering."5 Ginni Thomas actively encouraged the attempted white supremacist coup—and then Clarence Thomas tried to cover up her involvement by using his office as a Supreme Court justice to block the release of damning records, including the bombshell text messages sent by his wife. We know that Chief Justice Roberts is concerned for the legacy of the court—and is well aware that the American public already increasingly views the Supreme Court as a partisan and dysfunctional institution. Clarence Thomas's blatant wrongdoing only makes it worse—and we believe that with the court's legacy and his own legacy on the line, Chief Justice Roberts could be compelled to take action to sideline Justice Thomas for such conflicts of interest. [And that's where you come in: Will you chip in $3 to help put up television and newspaper ads calling for Thomas to be removed from office?]( Thanks for all you do. –Justin, Ankur, Chris, Gabi, and the rest of the team Sources: 1. Right-wing groups are spending tens of millions of dollars on TV ads to smear critical progressive legislation. Meanwhile, donations to progressive groups like MoveOn are plummeting now that a Democrat is in the White House, meaning we don’t have the resources to fight back. That's a huge problem, and that's why we urgently need your support. Will you chip in to fight right-wing lies and pass urgent legislation to confront the multiple crises our country faces?
