Tune in Monday night to hear from Congresswoman Ilhan Omar and movement leaders on the violent attac

Tune in Monday night to hear from Congresswoman Ilhan Omar and movement leaders on the violent attack on our democracy and how we move forward on accountability. Dear MoveOn member, [RSVP now to join MoveOn on Monday, January 18, at 8 p.m. ET/7 CT/6 MT/5 PT for a livestream discussion with Congresswoman Ilhan Omar and advocates to discuss the work ahead to rebuild our democracy, which includes holding Donald Trump, his GOP enablers, and his violent supporters accountable for their unprecedented assault on our democracy.]( On Wednesday, January 6, we witnessed an attack on our nation's Capitol and democratic institutions. Just hours after voters in Georgia made history and elected the first Black senator and the first Jewish senator from their state to the United States Senate, a violent mob of white supremacists, spurred on by President Donald Trump and enabled by hundreds of Republicans in Congress who sought to overturn presidential election results, stormed the Capitol building in Washington, D.C., vandalized members' offices, and destroyed lives and property. This brazen insurrection was unconscionable, and those who incited it must be held accountable or it will happen again. Trump has been impeached again—now, he must be convicted swiftly. Those who voted to overturn the results of our free and fair election must be expelled from office, and those involved in the violence must be brought to justice. Together on Monday we'll discuss how we got here, how we can build power so that everyone involved in the insurrection is held accountable, and how we can move forward in strengthening our democracy. We'll cover winning elections in Georgia, the rise of white nationalism, and the ways you can take action to expel the seditious members of Congress. We'll hear from: - Congresswoman Ilhan Omar - Michael Edison Hayden of Southern Poverty Law Center's Hatewatch blog - Rahna Epting of MoveOn - and more to be confirmed soon [Sign up now for Monday's livestream at 8 p.m. ET/7 CT/6 MT/5 PT.]( The four years of the Trump administration have been a racist backlash against our country electing President Barack Obama, the first Black president, and the increasing political power of Black, Latinx, and Asian voters. These voters not only came out and gave Joe Biden and Kamala Harris the presidency and vice presidency, but they also turned deep red Southern states blue for the first time in decades. We will not be deterred by Trump or his followers; we will continue our push for a multiracial democracy where everyone can thrive. Democrats will control all three branches of the federal government and will have the authority to ensure that justice is served, while swiftly moving to govern with their mandate to pass sweeping democracy reforms, provide direct economic relief for Americans, get control of the coronavirus pandemic, confront the climate crisis, and so much more. Join us on Monday as we speak with movement leaders and special guests to discuss why we must remove Trump from office once and for all, and hold his Republican enablers and white supremacist supporters accountable—and how accountability goes hand in hand with paving the way for the Biden-Harris administration and Democratic majorities in both houses of Congress to govern with the bold solutions we desperately need. [Can you join us this Monday at 8 p.m. ET/7 CT/6 MT/5 PT? Click here now to RSVP!]( Thanks for all you do. –David, Mary, Olga, Jordan, and the rest of the team Want to support MoveOn's work? Together, our diverse and vibrant coalition elected Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. We have an opportunity to make progress, but only if we give it our all to call for bold progressive legislation to expand health care, solve the climate crisis, address systemic racism, and more. Will you chip in now to power our work? [Yes, I'll chip in $5 a month.]( [No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.]( --------------------------------------------------------------- PAID FOR BY MOVEON.ORG POLITICAL ACTION, .
