This is the most important election of our lifetimes. I know that you're hearing that a lot, but we say it because it's true. Dear MoveOn member, Lin Miranda here. 2020 has been a challenging year. We're all grappling with the coronavirus pandemic, racial injustice and police violence, the current economic fallout, and more. This is far from the first time our country has been at such a crossroads. In Hamilton, I wrote, "history has its eyes on you." It was true then, and it's true now. [With 90 days to go until Election Day, will you support the crucial work being done by MoveOn and Fair Fight PAC—the organization founded by Stacey Abrams—to defend and expand the right to vote and help enable every voter to cast a ballot this November by chipping in $3 now?]( Fair Fight was built after countless voters of color were denied the right to vote in Georgia and around the country in 2018—and now Fair Fight is shining national attention on the ongoing fight to exercise our voting rights. And MoveOn is a progressive powerhouse that I've worked with to fight to end family separation and provide hurricane and earthquake relief for Puerto Rico—and now they are mobilizing their millions of members in battleground states to turn out their communities to vote. This is the most important election of our lifetimes. I know that you're hearing that a lot, but we say it because it's true. The country is facing an economic recession, schools are being pressured to reopen in the middle of the pandemic, the president is openly sowing distrust in our electoral system, and at every turn, Republicans have been putting up roadblocks to stop us from voting. The moment we're in looks and feels bleak. But this is not a moment. It's a movement. When we join together, we can be more powerful than their attempts to silence our voices and our votes. Our right to vote is under attack because they know how powerful we are when we march, organize, and go to the polls. They know that our commitment to making real "a more perfect union" is strong and that our desire for a more just and equitable future is unwavering. That's why Republicans have amassed more than $20 million to suppress votes in critical swing states that will determine the outcome of the next presidential election.1 We have so much urgent work to do to help register everyone who is eligible to vote—and then we have to fight so that everyone who is registered to vote can cast their vote. [Will you donate $3 to support the work of MoveOn and Fair Fight? History has its eyes on us. Thank you for all you do. Siempre, Lin-Manuel Miranda Source: 1. "Republicans plan to spend at least $20 million to combat voting rights lawsuits in 2020," Vox, May 8, 2020 [ Want to support our work? The MoveOn community will work every moment, day by day and year by year, to resist Trump's agenda, contain the damage, defeat hate with love, and begin the process of swinging the nation's pendulum back toward sanity, decency, and the kind of future that we must never give up on. And to do it we need your support, now more than ever. Will you stand with us?
