Some iconic venues play host to top-level motorsports this weekend, headlined by MotoGP in its spiritual Spanish home at Jerez, the FIA World Endurance Championship at the majestic Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium and the DTM kicking off at Hockenheim. This is shaping up to be a classic MotoGP season, in which the top four riders – all on different manufacturers’ bikes – are separated by nine points after three different winners from the opening trio of races. Spa is likely to be more of a foregone conclusion, with Toyota unstoppable at the front, while the more unpredictable stuff happens in its classes. Aston Martin will be in the mix there, and in DTM at Hockenheim, as it joins Audi and BMW for the first time. Hockenheim also plays host to the first-ever W Series event, one which is likely to divide opinion, but let’s give it a chance before taking to Twitter, eh? And don’t forget the fun in store across the pond, with NASCAR at Dover and IMSA tearing it up around the Mid-Ohio sportscar course.
