🏎 In Renault Carlos Sainz trusts

Although he became the first retirement of Formula 1 2019 in Melbourne, with a powertrain-related issue before he’d completed even 10 laps, McLaren’s Carlos Sainz has backed Renault’s latest power unit to get right in the mix. With Honda now doing good things with Red Bull, it’s more important than ever that Renault gets its V6 hybrid house in order and really pushes its performance limits to catch Mercedes and Ferrari. Sainz believes it is closer than ever to that target, and reckons Renault’s development path is moving in the right direction too. We need all four engine manufacturers to be within small margins of one another, then we’ll get the truly great season of action that we’ve all been longing for.
