🏎Why Monza needs to remain a jewel in F1’s crown

Nice to see Monza take a proactive step in safeguarding its position on the Formula 1 roster with ambitious plans to seal its position as the fastest track on the schedule. Back in the day, Monza’s mixture of banked corners and road course made it a unique challenge. While I don’t think we’ll ever go back to that layout, plans to remove the second chicane would make the charge to the Lesmo double right-handers absolutely electrifying. In the name of safety, a lot of tracks have been emaciated. I think we should revel in Monza’s high-speed demands, but also wonder if its other usage (it’s set inside a Royal park) will work against such changes, as has happened in the past. I hope not.
