We put two identical EVs head to head to see what affects range. [Motors]( Versus Series! It’s very rare that you’ll find yourself considering only one car. With so many different vehicle types, body shapes and manufacturers, it can be quite tough to decide which type of vehicle could be right for you, let alone the specific model. To help, we’ve created a series of videos where we pit cars against each other to see which is best at a certain task. The surprising true impact of heating, air con and a fully-loaded car on EV range Many owners (and prospective owners of EVs) have concerns that their range will be significantly reduced should they choose to pack the car up with people and luggage and head off on a road trip. We've all heard stories of people being afraid to use any tech in an attempt to eke out as much range as possible. But do you really need to go to such lengths? We decided to find out! We conducted a real world test to find out more about the true impact of heating, air con and a fully-loaded car on EV range. We took two identical Skoda Enyaqs and drove them together from Manchester to the Lake District, just over 100 miles. The conditions and distance travelled for both vehicles was identical as they travelled in convoy. What wasn't identical was how the cars went about their journey! One car had four adults, luggage (including heavy camera gear) and had all the tech switched on. The other car had a solo driver, no luggage and didn't even use the radio! What was the difference on range? Watch our video to find out! [Watch the full review here]( Estate vs SUV: Active Lifestyle What's better for an active family? An Estate or SUV? We found out! If you're thinking of the perfect vehicle for an active family, an SUV might be the first thing that comes to mind. However, this wasn't always the case. In the past, if you needed a car that could fit the whole family and their equipment, an estate car was the obvious choice. Nowadays, with the increasing popularity of SUVs, estate models are becoming less popular, and some manufacturers are even discontinuing them. To find out whether estate cars are still a viable alternative to SUVs, we conducted a test. We recruited an active family, packed up all their gear, and compared two cars: the BMW 3 Series Touring and the Audi Q5. Our goal was to determine which car would be the best fit for their needs. When it comes to driving in the city, the ideal vehicle has changed over the years. While executive saloons were once the preferred mode of transportation for professionals, they now feel outdated in the face of low-emission zones, electric vehicles, and cramped car parks. If you're looking for an efficient city vehicle these days, you'll probably need something smaller, but that doesn't mean you have to sacrifice comfort or tech. We've pitted two very different vehicles against each other to see if a big performance saloon like the Audi S8 can handle the modern city streets and if the Cupra Born can provide the perfect mix of features for your city commute.
