The MoJo Daily newsletter, Monday through Friday. [View in browser]( [Mother Jones Daily Newsletter](     February 5, 2024 It's still too cold for my liking. But after weeks of seemingly unending cloud coverage, the sun is finally out. It's enough to put some pep in my step and offer the kind of soul-boosting energy one experiences when listening to Laraaji, whose music, as the always [brilliant Amanda Petrusich once described](, is a gentle reminder to "exhale and unclench." It was against this rare encounter with optimism that I read David Corn this morning on President Biden's potential shift regarding Israel. While I don't personally love the constant insistence on seeing the horrors in Gaza through a horse-race lens, the fact is that the US's response to the war has deeply disappointed key demographics on the left: young adults, progressives, people of color, and Arab Americans. Come November, many are calling to "[abandon Biden](" if the president refuses to support a ceasefire. But could the ground be shifting? [As David writes](, Biden's executive order last week sanctioning Israeli settlers in the West Bank accused of attacking Palestinians and Israeli peace activists is likely to cast a wide, punishing net on far-right Israeli extremists, including members of Netanyahu’s cabinet, and their supporters in the US. For critics of Biden's stance on Israel, this is a significant step in the right direction. But what will it take for Biden to forcefully break from Netanyahu? Read David [on the results many on the left]( need to see to be convinced that the president deserves their crucial backing. Hope there's some sun in your corner. And reader, if you too could use some pep, [I humbly recommend you jam out to this gem](. —Inae Oh Advertisement [House Subscriptions Ad]( [Top Story] [Top Story]( [Biden could be shifting his stance on Israel.
